The 20th limited-edition beer in our Vintage Ale series, Vintage Ale 2016 is a rich, smooth Barley Wine that promises a distinguished drinking experience. Packaged in our signature Vintage Ale gift box, it’s a special beer inside and out, perfect as a gift or to add to your own collection.
Brewed to 8.5% , Vintage Ale 2016 brings together classic British ingredients (Challenger, Goldings and Northdown) with the aromatic Nelson Sauvin hop from New Zealand - used here both for bittering and as a dry hop.
The global combination of ingredients gives rise to a rich and complex amber beer, with aromas of sherry and Cognac, and a flavour profile that picks out toasted grains and sweet cherry Bakewell Tart.

$9.49 500ml bottle from Wine Warehouse, bottle #134908. Pours murky orange-brown with a small beige head. Aroma is sweet fruits: raisin, orange, plum, and caramel. Flavor is somewhat subdued up front: dried fruit: raisin and prune, caramel, toffee, earth, wood, alcohol.

Refrigerated 0.5 L brown bottle poured into a glass. Clear copper with medium beige head. Aroma is toffee, medium body, medium carbonation, and good small-bubble lacing. Taste is toffee, caramel, and some earthy. Nice Strong English Ale.

Cask (handpump) @ GBBF 2016, [ Great British Beer Festival 2016 ], London Olympia, Hammersmith Road, London, England W14 8UX. [ As Fuller's Vintage Ale 2016 ].Clear medium amber colour with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, dried fruity, rich malt, sweet malt - honey, dried apricot. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average to long duration, pale malt, caramel, sweet malt, dried fruit, rich malt, sweet malt - honey notes, wood - resin notes. IMO feel a bit young. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20160809] 6-3-7-4-15

50cl pours a clear caramel amber with some white head. Nose has malt, honey comb, treacle, hints of raisin and black tea. Flavor has raisin and dried cherry, black tea, malt, cakey here, but very beer-y with corn syrup too. Sweet finish.

Bottle from Alko. Clear, dark amber beer with good and long lasting light beige head. Aroma has caramel malts, dried fruits, some alcohol and wood. Taste has sweet caramel and fruits, herbs and dry bitterness. Slightly woody and alcoholic. Quite sweet however. Medium+ body, medium- carbonation. Better than last year's vintage. Not too sweet and also some exotic fruits can be found from this one.

Bottle (from superalko). Pours dark amber brown with whiteish head. Aroma is sweet, fruity, malty, citric. Flavor is sweet and bitter, malt, booze, fruits, citrus. Finish is sweet and malty with some booze. Overall: very good.

Aus der Flasche im 2017-11 getrunken. Wie auch die anderen Ales dieses Serie von Fullers ist dieses auch wieder ein ganz feines. Doch hier geht der Stil etwas weg von English Strong Ale und wird sind bei einen mild gehopften Barley Wine. Neben der leichten Hopfennote unterstreicht eine tolle rote Beerenfrucht die wunderbaren Getreidenoten einen Barley Wine. Großes Kino - Klasse!

Bottle. Amber with an off white coat that fades from an " to a cm. A: Bread, pastry, brandy, grass, citrus. Full bodied. And the grass has a little fresh grapey edge and you can see how it might be NS. It has a brightness, almost an astringency that cuts the richness of the beer nicely but doesn't quite fit. Good, will be interesting to see how this one goes in 2-5 years.
