Stout!? really? This was watery, and thin with the faintest flavor of roasted malt. This is more like a watered down dark ale, with next to no flavor profile, or aroma. PASS!

Location: Draft at the Brewpub, 7/7/13

Aroma: The aroma is fairly light, it has some dark malts, roast, and a little earth
Appearance: The pour is a clear brownish color with a small brown head
Flavor: The taste is light and malty, not overly sweet, a little dull, almost no bitterness
Palate: The body is light, the beer is plenty drinkable, with a fairly short duration
Overall Impression: First off, the brewpub is definitely better than the beer. This is basically just an average macro-level dark ale.

A dark clear brown "ale" with a thick frothy brown head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel extract, with weird grassy notes. In mouth, a sweetish caramel malt with light peaty notes, roasted, faint Labatt hops, a bit surprised, this is not that bad. 1.99$ for a 500ml can, from a Qc depanneur.

Originally rated November 2009. Pours a dark brown-red colour with clear red highlights shining through. Its off-white beige head is big, bubbly-foamy, has good retention and leaves nice lacing all-around. I can hardly smell any roasted malt, just the normal malt they use for their normal brew and some light hop. Pretty watery mouthfeel and boring. Well, at least I can taste a little roasted malt and have some mild coffee, but really a toned down wannabe stout. Feels more like a cheap swill schwarzbier than an ale, just like their IPA is more like a cheap lager. Too bad.

Canette 473ml.

Well engineered black body and a decent little bit of dark white head on top. Soft roasted barley aroma. The flavour and palate are a confusing mix on this one - it’s too weak to really stand out, and if the flavours were just a little bit stronger we’d be on to something here. Instead it’s mostly a weak and watery mess with a few tasty hints here and there. A shame, really.

Can: Poured a light black color with a small bubbly head with limited retention. Aroma of adjunct sweetness with limited character. Taste is also dominated by light sweetness originating from adjunct. Body is way too light with average carbonation. Bland, no character and too much adjunct makes this a bad beer.

On tap, pours dark amber. Aroma of caramel and roasted malts. Flavour is similar and weak. Just drinkable.

This "dark" ale poured just that, dark. With a big, creamy, tan coloured head. To the nose there are scents of sweet roasted malt, a tiny bit of cocoa and bread. First sip was very watery. Not too much flavour on the first try. Just a little burnt flavour and a real small hopp flavour. Roasty flavour lingers into complete water. Too light fo a brown, or Dark ale.
