Double barrel-aged imperial stout with cacao nibs and vanilla

When it comes to big barrel-aged stouts, Chocolate Reign takes the crown. This elevated version of Chocolate Rain was double bourbon barrel-aged with even more cacao and vanilla. Already aged for over a year, these hand-selected barrels earned a second round of barrel-aging. Made with the finest ingredients, including Maya Mountain Belizean cacao and Madagascar vanilla, you could say this bottle is suited for royalty.

(tap 0,2l @ CraftBeer Solniční (Brno); 2023 version with 22.5%) Overall: Good, strong chocolate flavor, strong alcohol. My strongest beer so far. Could use some other extra flavor twist to hide alcohol even more. Aroma: Strong chocolate, cocoa, spicy alcohol. Appearance: Deep black. Quickly done pale brown head. Taste: Medium sweet, chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, spicy, alcohol. Palate: Full body. Sticky texture. Warm alcohol-hot finish.

Bottle, 375 ml, shared with MiroB and Luka. Dark brown with beige head. Chocolate and alcohol, bourbon, cocoa, some vanilla notes. Sweetish. More alcohol. Huge beer, that amount of alcohol is not easy to hide.

Pours black. Scent is more booze-forward, and more liquid chocolate, than the 2020 version - which had more vanilla and bourbon barrel in comparison. Taste is intense , seemingly a bit sharper / thinner than the 2020. More boozefocussed, medicinal chocolate / vanilla, as booze takes the upperhand. A spirit feel, almost, but without the finesse. Seems like a too high amped up ABV stout (which it litterally is anyways) . Chocolate and vanilla are still clear, but don't have the upperhand. BBA is even fairly hidden. Decent beer, more than decent even - but this aint a royal greatness which I hoped and expected it to be.

Pours black. Scent is chocolate, nesquick, bourbon, vanilla, bit boozy, but nowhere near the 21 ABV. Taste is full on intensity, the high ABV backbone makes sence here, as it's a juicy thickness, but it gets spirit like on the palate, almost. Chocolate, vanilla, oak, bourbon,.. All the expected traits, but nothing truly surpassing the (high) expectations. Than again, I do like these type of beers - too sweet for most people, but I enjoy a bomb like this from time to time.

750 ml bottle. 2020 release. Aroma is soft vanilla, chocolate, bourbon. I mean, I wish the flavor match the aroma. But I guess this high of an alcohol content is pretty hard to hide. The burn isn’t easy at all easy to drink.

750mL bottle, thanks Airforcehops!, drunk 1/14/23. No head, undetermined clarity. Deep mahogany. Easygoing bourbon. Vanilla, butter, biscuit. Some alcohol, definitely not 21%, so that's good. Very chocolatey, with spicy, nutty, strong rye whiskey. Right up front it's rich and malty with chocolate, fudge, vanilla and then BAM! beat to high hell with alcohol. Drying, sharp, hot, strong, noxious alcohol throughout. I mean...what were they expecting at this size?? Nah, man. The Bruery can go to hell. They should rename themselves Fusel Brewing Company. So gross.

Aroma is nice. Taste is great until you begin to swallow and then it's all alcohol. Sad.

Looks like Black Tuesday. Smells like a cold hot fudge Sunday. Loads of chocolate. Tastes like a hot fudge Sunday. Thick, sweet, gooey delicious fudge. Lots of smokey barrel character with a lot of bourbon and ton of chocolate.
