Zwart bier met schuim. Smaak is krachtig, warm, bitter en licht pittig met iets van bittere chokolade, koffie en vanille. De pitige afdronk met het helemaal af.

At Café Congé, Ghent, shared with Anke. Pours cloudy black with a thin, beige head. The aroma contains roasted malt, coffee, a bit of licorice & caramel, dark fruits, hops & spices, vanilla. It tastes light malty sweet and light to medium toasty bitter, with a long, peppery finish; burning chili & some alcohol in the throat. Medium body, oily texture, fizzy to lively carbonation. I tasted the previous version once but haven't rated it yet. Even with a distant memory I can tell that this is completely different... and quite good.

Bottle, many thanks 77ships, after I missed it on tap at Zythos (although it was on our table...). Huge gusher! Murky brown color with beige head that goes down quickly. Aroma is coffee, vanilla, chocolate, chili flesh. Taste is chocolate, molasses, vanilla, cinnamon, chili., just the right amount of chili catch in the back, it's not really hot. Oily mouthfeel with low carbonation. Very nice!

Bottle from Bierhalle Dekoninck. Pours very nearly solid black, but some reddish glow can be spotted when pouring whilst facing light. Still, quite black ! Decent sized head of medium stability, light brown / off white in color. Smell is rather sharp, mild roasty. not very intense. Taste is strong, roasty, rather dry. Coffee comes out, but as a balanced part of the beer, this is not like most coffee stouts. Vanilla keeps itself very hidden. sharp ( and to high ) carbonation , body is thick to the average beer, but not as thick as I enjoy in a imperial stout of internationnal standards. Aftertaste builds up some peppers, they aren't noticable in the first few sips, but than, later on, they rise to the surface, in a spicy, mild hot manner. overall, this is a pretty solid offering. To me, it does not yet compete on internationnal imperial stout markets, but I can see myself ordering this one again a few times :)

The new, 'imperial' (much stronger) and coffee-, chilli- and vanilla-flavoured edition of Hedonis' Kiss My Stout, tasted from tap at Kantien in Ghent. Thick but quickly dissipating, creamy, pale brownish beige, eventually vanishing head over a blackish beer with hazy chestnut brown edges, strings of fizz on the edge. Aroma of a lot of actual coffee powder, cold espresso, beef stock, 'fondant' chocolate, hazelnut paste, dried chilli peppers and vanilla noticeable but relatively subtly so, candied fig, cooking red cabbage with brown sugar, toffee, cold tea, parsley. Sweet onset, candied fig, dried banana and raisin notes, sourish brambleberry-like undercurrent, vividly but 'refinedly' prickling carbonation, thick and creamy, slick mouthfeel. Caramelly, toffeeish, nutty malt body, nicely bittersweet but more sweet than bitter, bit chocolatey towards the end while it gets more and more covered in the coffee flavour that was already very apparent in the nose - with all these components matching quite well; leafy, herbal and peppery hop bitterness in the finish, the pepperiness accentuated by the chilli - though I do not get explicit chilli burn (which is unfortunate, really). The vanilla does come through but much more subtly so than the coffee and the whole is followed by a long, quite obvious, bourbon-like alcohol glow. This is clearly a very different stout from the original Excuse Me While I Kiss My Stout - a name change would have been appropriate if you ask me as this will only create confusion. Anyway, if you must compare: much stronger and therefore evidently more boozy, but also much fuller, creamier, more oily, less metallic and a whole lot more aromatic than the original version - I have to admit that I was very pleasantly surprised by this one.

25/VII/17 - 33cl bottle from De Hopduvel (Gent) @ holidays - BB: n/a (space for printing date is blank, nothing on cap) (2017-1126)

Clear dark brown beer, big creamy solid beige head, pretty stable, non adhesive. Aroma: quite some coffee, bit sweet, roasted malts, chocolate notes, cocoa powder, bit dusty. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: very nice roasted start, lots of dark chocolate, cocoa powder, little sweet, slightly sourish, some dried fruits, a nice chilli burn as well. Aftertaste: alcohol, sweet, pretty roasted, coffee notes, caramel, bitter hoppy finish. Very nice job, guys!

(Draught at Dynamo Bar, Brussels, 20 May 2017) Black colour with creamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with dark chocolate, black coffee, vanilla and a touch of smoke. Malty, roasted taste with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, roasted nuts, vanilla, a slight touch of chilli and a balanced roasty bitterness. Almost full body, with a touch of sweetness. Tasty and quite powerful. Very nice.
