Bourgogne Blanc is a collective term used for white wines from the Burgundy region of France, most often being Chardonnay. Inspired by the crisp and fresh flavor of our own California Chardonnays, we wanted to explore what would happen from aging our sour ale with these fruitful grapes. Aged in French oak barrels for 12 months, the result is spritzy and loaded with oak spice, plus tropical flavors and vanilla notes from the juicy Chardonnay grapes. It's the perfect replacement for your favorite Champagne for all of life's celebrations.

Bottle split at RB Best Encomium share, Santa Rosa, 30/01/16 - Many Thanks ! Hazed orange golden with a decent off white covering. Nose is pissy citric rinds, tarte orange, green berry funk, damp hay. Taste comprises wood must, tarte green berry, white grape skins, funk, damp hay bale, grains, lemon rind, apple core. Medium + body, fine carbonation, drying close with a sharp citric bite with a kiss of acidity. Decent enough sour drinking below its ABV but also lacking some depth on this front ABV considered.

Poured from a 750 ml bottle. Aroma is definitely grape forward with some medium light tropical fruit and faint citrus notes. Golden raisins and white wine notes. Light oak an tannins. Moderate acidity. A hint of alcohol. Pours a somewhat clear, golden orange color with a small, thin, white head that recedes quickly to the edges where a thin film lingers for a bit. No lacing and small legs. Flavor is moderately acidic with a light sweetness. A ton of grape flavors with some light oak and tannins with a hint of vanilla. Light alcohol notes. Lots of golden raisin and green grape notes. Some tropical fruit character. Very white wine like flavor. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, a nice beer if you want something that tastes like white wine. So much grape character with some light oak notes. Grapes are nice, but there isn’t much beer character hiding in this beverage.

Bottle thanks to Will. Pours a hazy orange with small white head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is oak, leather, apple skin. Thin mouth, tart grape, light spice, nice sourness, really nice.

Sample at Denver Rare Beer Tasting VII on 09/25/2015. Slightly hazy golden color with a medium white head that dissipates steadily to a film. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of vine fruits, yeast and malt. Full-bodied with flavors of vinous oak, tart citrus and herbal yeast. The finish is oaky with a mildly sour citrus and grape aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

750 ml bottle, dated 7/18/2015. Hazy golden color without any head. Aroma is a ton of vinegar with notes of citrus and white wine. Chardonnay white is notable yet, overpowered by sharp vinegar notes.
Flavor is tart, abrasive and loads of sour vinegar. Over and over again the Burery has sour that are all vinegar. It’s like drinking whit wine or balsamic right out of the bottle. Sorry.... Only a select few American Brewers can brew sours in the proper manner. This is not easy to drink at all, unless you love vinegar.

75CL split 2 ways. Thanks Eric for trusteeing. Oak orange color. 1 finger head. Smells tart, vinegar, a lot of grape juice and some lemonade. Very tart, dare I say very sour. Tart lemonade, lime juice, apple and oak. Intense and the ABV is well hidden. I get a champagne like mouthfeel. really interesting.
