Rood-zwart kleurtje. Prachtig gebalanceerde smaken: geroosterde mout, pure chocolade, beetje zoet en crèmig, koffie, rokerig.

Rozczarowanie. Palone, mocno kwaskowate, wodniste, mineralne, ze spora goryczka. Generalnie mi nie podeszlo, a nawet pomyslalem o infekcji?

330 ml. bottle @ Beerlovers Bar. To Øl take on the Baltic Porter style with seemingly no usual ingredients & puzzlingly it appears that this is their first stab at the style. I have had one from BRUS which was far better than this. This isn’t a terrible beer but I have high expectations of To Øl and I like the style and I have had far better takes on it than this one. It feels to me like To Øl has been faltering a bit at times lately or maybe my love affair with them is just passing sadly. Black with collapsing big creamy mocha head. Nose is oddly metallic which is a definitely a minus point, strongly herbal with sugar & cough syrup. Taste is too metallic, overly herbal, thick syrupy very herbal cough syrup, too much metal / iron. Body is the same.

Bottle at home from Offie & Toffee. Looks great in the glass and on the first sip it had one of the most interesting flavours of toasted malt that I have ever encountered. It was so long and changed and developed as it slipped down. Almost like an echo that fades and gently declines. After a few more sips I lost that and it took on more of a wine like quality with a complexity that was surprising. However, it was extremely rich and even though I was drinking it alongside food, I was struggling towards the end of the glass. The blurb on the bottle says that they have taken the ingredients as far as possible and I do agree with them. This was a beer on the edge, with the ingredients taken to the furrthest extremes of the envelope before it becomes something unpleasant.
