Special edition of Saxo with more caramel malts and more hops, bottle shared by kraddel at Belgian ticks tasting in Ghent. Thick, egg-white, moussy, lacing head, peachy orangey blonde robe with a ’yeast fog’ throughout, equally hazy with sediment. Aroma of banana, ripe pear, caramel, soggy toast, field flowers, coriander seed, cooked carrots, bubblegum, moist white pepper, peanuts. Fruity onset, banana and peach, bit bubblegummy but not exaggeratedly so, sharpish carbonation. Lightly bready, rounded malt sweetness with indeed caramelly edges more so than the regular version, a touch toasted bitterish even, minerally effects from carbonation remaining till into the finish, where banana ester and caramel malts linger under a floral, earthy hop bitterishness, though far less bittering than I was hoping for based on the ’extra hops’ premise; some warming alcohol in the end as well. Classic Caracole ale, not so very different from the regular Saxo apart from being a tad darker and more caramelly, but I think even more hops would probably tune up things to a higher level. Still very enjoyable though.

Thank you kraddel! 330 ml. bottle sampled @ “Belgian Ticks Tasting Ghent”. BBF 09/11/2018 so a second batch I suppose or the make this one occasionally. Sparkling orange amber, off-white head. Nose is mellow malt, caramel, bit metallic, orange peel. Taste is sweet soap, sugar, bread, almost smoked hint (?), sugar, soap, candy,… Body is BE soap, sugar, sweet,… I get the extra malt but the extra hop? Looking at my score I appears that I liked this one less than the original but change in palate & setting might be at play here.

Pours darker ambergold, mild hazyness. Small white head. Smell is spices, malty, mild caramel. Taste is earhty / malty / very mild caramel. Way to high carbo. Weak body. Not for me.

Clear golden orange beer, big creamy off-white head, very stable, pretty adhesive. Aroma: pretty fruity, lots of spices, coriander, sweet fruits. MF: quite some carbon, medium body. Taste: spicy, coriander, sweet sugary touch, citrus fruits, bit malty, but mainly spices. Aftertaste: citric hops, nice bitter finish with spicy notes, little yeast on warming up.
