Champion Porter of Britain 1993 and 1994, Runner up to Supreme Champion of Britain 1994. A superb winter beer, massive mouth feel and as black as night. The beer is a faithful reproduction of an old porter discovered in the archives.

Cask @ Wallace Hartley, Colne. Brown with a thick head. It's a gritty-malty ale, not quite porterlike in taste.

Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. A deep plum colour with a loose beige head; aroma of purple fruit; lighter than expected inthe mouth, tasting of dry stoney fruit - plums, damson and apricots, with some caramel; then an earthy finish with some sweet nuts. Rather good.

Cask gravity at White Cliffs BF 2007. Black in colour with brown edges. Thin tan head. Good quality choc, some sourness. Smooth. Not outstanding. Pretty competent beer without being exciting.

Cask Conditioned, Akkurat Stockholm
Dark brown to black color; thin head. Aroma of caramel, malt, dust, yeast. Smooth; the taste is quite balanced (malt, roasted malt, caramel, liquorice). Good.

(Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm) Colour is very dark brown, almost black, with dense light brown head. Roasted nose with lots of dark chocolate. Roasted taste with dark, bitter chocolate and dried fruit (prunes). Quite full bodied, with a tarry hint. Easily drinkable despite the abv. Nice!

Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm. Opaque and near black, Fruity nose with some sweaty hops. Dryish with very soft, rounded moutfeel and firm malt back bone. Cocoa and canned fruit dominates. There’s some some salty licorice in a finish with low bitterness. It’s like chewing a baloon filled with water - it’s soft and full, but it doesn’t have a terrible lot of flavour.
