The Potteloereke is a strong brown beer of 8 vol.% Alc. Originally brewed at the request of the pottery ’t Hoveke in Meigem. This potter beer comes into its own right when it is served in the special artisanal Potteloereke beer mug. Potteloereke is brewed with a mixture of special pale and dark malts and brown candy sugar. Potteloereke has a fruity aroma, a strong head and a slightly sweet aftertaste.

Potters’ beer supposed to be served in a stone jar, but I pour it into a trappist chalice since I hate being served beer of which I cannot see the colour. Yellow beige, dense, sticky head over a dark brown beer with reddish hue, lightly hazy. Fruity aroma with lots of deep maltiness, floral hops, plums, banana, pear, chocolate, butterscotch, dark candi sugar, brambleberries, candied dates; sweet caramelly taste with dark fruits, apple, banana, full and agreeable maltiness, soft, light sourish touch and liquorice, delicate carbonation, bitterish finish with peppery hops and a subtle roasted accent (coffee) as well as warming, but nowhere disturbing alcohol. I enjoyed this very much and as I stated in my rating of Pater Van Damme, I am convinced the latter was an alias of this, at least ten years ago when I tasted both of them side by side and could not find any difference whatsoever.

Bottle in my used-to-be-clean living room. Are you kidding me ???? This bitch even gushes more than their damn ’maeght van gottem ’ . And this time, lets not blame a Hopcone ( that should not be in a bottle of beer anyways , since it’s a clear invitation for infections and have been proven to cause some serious gushing ) no, this is just a proof of a bad quality in the beer, somewhere . After cleaning up the floor and couch ( thnx for that guys ) The foam had disapeared . Zero resistancy, even though the pour took 2 glasses for half the bottle ( that, BTW, kept gushing ) Smell is metallic and grainy-sweetness, as well as sugar . Overcarbonated . Taste is straight sugar - caramelly . Some earthy undertone, some bitterness . Tastewise, i’d say I like this . Even to the point of ’I really like this ’ . But lets be honoust here . Overcarbonated, simple, yet still not even free of brewing mistakes ( too much sugar in refermentation ? ) ... Its a yummy beer , with bad quality . And how the hell can I rate it high if it has low quality ? ___ otherwise, the score would be about 3,8-3,9 / 5 ___

Wonderful beer. Pours cloudy brown with suspended sediment, airy beige head and sticky lacing. Light sour, yeasty aroma, taste is straight up yeast, with some mellow lingering sourness. A real beauty of a beer.

33cl bottle @Kaisla, Helsinki. Dark brown in color, thin white head. Aroma has dark fruits, spicy notes, dough and caramel. Heavy sweet taste, licorice, bread and dark fruits. Alcohol is well hidden, but overall not really to my taste, too sweet as well.

A dark brown ale with a thin creamy and big bubbled brown head. In aroma, sweet candy malt with dark fruits, cherries, and light molasses. In mouth, a sweetish candy malt with dark fruits, molasses and light honey. Boring.

Pour is a cloudy brown with a large tan head. Aroma is some dark fruit and loads of brown sugar. Flavor is some sugar, figs and butterscotch. Finish is sweet sugar and some plum. Lots of carbonation with this beer. But it is still a very flavorful Belgian dark ale.
