0.75l bottle. Orange body with practically no head. Aroma of sugar syrup, grapefruit, wood, grapes and a hint of vinegar. Taste of sugar syrup, lemon zest, grapefruit, wood, salt and some vinegar. Mostly sour, but the finish has some bitterness to it. Very nice.

Opalescent orange to bright amber colour, minimal off-white lacing; aroma of woody, lemon zesty, some acetone, earthy, unripe fruity and yeasty notes; taste is similar to the aroma with some slight salty notes and bittery aftertaste; great one; many thanks for sharing, Kapusil!

Aromas are caramel malt, brett, oak, herbs and spices with some fruit. Flavors are somewhat similar to nose, moderately tart up front with a little sweet in back. Decent body and carbonation. Good but nothing too special.

"De Ranke Vieille Provision (2022)", 75-cl-Flasche von Jef - thanks a lot! (18.2.2025.)

Large 750ml bottle picked up from Drankgigant.nl, Vlissingen, Netherlands and consumed at home sat outside Sunday 21st July 2024. Pours hazy orange with hardly any head, sour and tangy, woah...sour, wild and very much like a Gueuze in many respect, dry and furry with a lemony acidic taste. Good beer but probably lost a point or two for not being what I expected, which was completely my fault.

Pours golden with almost no head. Aroma funky and floral. Flavour yeasty with a bit of rind; sour and slightly astringent. A bit woody on the finish. Very civilised.

Amber, slight haze. No head. And the pour seems to have not much carbonation. Interesting aroma has a bit of phenol, touch of plastic and cleaner, but not a lot. There's more bugs than phenols. I'm feeling like this could go either way. On the palate, it's got some soft malts, and a light tartness. Seems lively, and balanced. None of those phenols are on the palate.

750mL bottle, pours a clear golden amber with a tiny white head. Aroma is somewhat buggy, plenty of wet wood, and a touch of oak. Flavour is very buggy, with plenty of wet wood, wild yeast, a touch of oak, and very low-level acidity. Wet woody, oak, and gentle acidity. Not the most complex and would definitely benefit from being blended with lambic, as per Cuvee de Ranke. Good base.

0.75 l bottle from 'Etre Gourmet', 2022 vintage. Hazy, deep orangeish amber with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, white head. Sweetish, sourish, rather vinous-fruity and a bit funky aroma of overripe lemon, rhubarb, oak, red wine, some vinegar and a touch of horse blanket. Slightly sweet, quite sour, rather vinous-fruity and a little funky taste of overripe lemon, rhubarb, oak, plum, red wine, light vinegar and traces of horse blanket, followed by a medium long, gently tart, moderately woody-dry finish. Medium body, slightly astringent and gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very well-balanced, quite complex, yet refreshing sour ale. Looking forward to trying the Cuvée!
