A frothy thick tan head on a creamy near black body. Substantial body, but unfortunately not enough going on taste wise to warrant a top rating. Very soft coffee and mild chocolate, but not enough going on and the taste thins out pretty quickly.

Pint at Bar Volo pours a murky black with a big cap of beige head. Nose is classic, malt and oats and licorice and molasses. Like a full bodied Guinness, malt and oat and some cocoa. Just off dry finish.

Pretty solid stout. Great balance of roast and nut. Crisp bitter finish - holds up better than a guinness any day. Black pour with massive pillow of head and a carpet of lacing. Tap at barhop - looks like nitro though not sure it is.

Can: Poured a deep brown/black color stout with a brown foamy head with a brown foamy head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of roasted malt notes with light dry black chocolate notes. Taste is also a mix of roasted malt notes with some light dry black chocolate notes. Body is a bit thin with good carbonation. Honest stout but nothing to write home about.

Can from the brewery. Pours a dark brown colour with a mocha-coloured, creamy-frothy head, with good retention and creamy lacing. Vanilla cooking extract nose over the chocolate notes and roasted malt base. The taste is thankfully not sweet as the aromas give out to be. Roasted malt flavours with some nicely balanced hops. Nothing too out of this world, and the scent is different, but a decent regular stout.

Tasting at Matt’s, can
Dark brown color, almost black. Aroma of roasted malts, some cardboard. Dry mouthfeel, some chocolate and dark malts, a bit cardboardy; more roasty in the final. Not bad.
