330 ml. bottle sampled + tasting glass @ LIBF 2017. Thank you for sharing RB-InBev Belgian crew! Orange, little white head. Nose is sweet stale orange peel, sugar, barrel, bit too muted, flat a bit flat. Taste is far more interesting, sweet orange peel, caramel, toffee, there is how, some blue cheese Sorachi Ace, largely it finished with sweet sugary borubon, caramel, toffee,... Body is grain, sweet, sugar,... Not as great as I had hoped but a very interesting, sweet but more oily than you would expect, bourbon, orange peel, toffee,... Intriguing nice.

The new rendition of Heaven & Hell, the beautiful barrel aged DIPA from Weird Beard; shared by 77ships at LIBF ’17, cheers! Loose, off-white, bubbly head over a clear, deep and warm ’old gold’ coloured beer with pale orangey hue. Aroma suprisingly blue cheese-like (Roquefort) at first glance, even old Parmigiano, next to orange peel, bourbon, dill, vanilla, dried mango, pineapple. Crisp and lush but still ’clean’ fruity onset, pineapple, peach, hint lime, softly carbonated, bread crust-like, soft malt body, long finish with the cheesiness returning along with citrus peel and dried mango notes, a lot of warming, indeed sweetish bourbon-like alcohol, a drying wood tannin note and a late, leafy bitterness. Fascinating, complicated and somewhat challenging beer, very different from what I remember from the previous batch; the old and blue cheese-like quality especially surprised me but I love those things so I cannot bother. I need to find a full bottle of this - and of any other Heaven and Hell editions I can still find.

Bottle sample @ LIBF’17, thanks to the RB-InBev Belgian crew for the share.

Clear golden colour. Aroma is mostly sweet vanilla. In the flavour there’s also liads of vanilla but compensated with bitter hop and some tropical fruit sugars.
