Fresh and well defined tastes lead to a solid BW from Riverbend. The nose leads with citrus and earthy hops supported by caramel malts and candied fruit. The taste has some solid elements - rich caramel malt, citrus, rindy hops balanced by earthy English hops, cherries and other berries and a warm booziness. Dense and slightly sticky.

Hazy amber colour with some golden highlights, a big warm, light-beige frothy head, very long lasting and leaving nice foamy lacing. Big dark fruits in the aromas at first, then calming down and releasing the caramel malt base, hints of wax, hops. The hops do come out on top in the taste with some nice grassiness, over the caramel malts and some good lingering dryness. Cereal grains and hay come out in the nose with time. Getting more bitter as you drink. A good American Barleywine, as pretty hoppy, but all well-blended with the malt, and really not too sweet.

A hazed dark amber barley wine with a thin lacing off white head. In aroma, sweet caramel malt with light vinous character and dark fruits, alcohol warmth, light licorice. In mouth, caramel malt with vinous notes, herbal hops, light cereals, scotch, pleasant. On tap at Brouhaha Ahuntsic.

Can: Poured a cloudy bright burgundy color ale with a medium size foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of caramelized cereal notes with some light dry hoppy notes is pleasant. Taste is mostly focused on caramelized malt with dry cereal notes and pleasant grainy notes. Light dry hoppy notes are also noticeable and offset some of the residual sugar notes. Body is about average with good carbonation with no apparent alcohol. Very interesting and promising. Some age might help to offset some of the greener hops notes which fits more or less well in this beer.
