It's Broadside, but not as you know it! Aged in ex-bourbon barrels with some cherries inside, this limited edition beer is a taste explosion of oak, cherries, whisky and a touch of rhubarb. Cheers!

Sample from 33 cl flip top bottle. Clear dark amber colour with a thin off-white head. Sweet aroma with caramel malts, vinous notes, cherries, a soft bourbon vanilla note. Taste is sweet. Full body with an oliy texture and a soft carbonation. Finishes fruity with caramel malts and cherries. Nice.

swingtop bottle from boxbeers. Interesting... aged for 6!! yrs in bourbon barrels. Probably the longest barrelled beer i've ever tasted. clear brown, small smooth offwhite head. Aroma of vanilla, sweet almonds, cherries, wood, old ale, sweeter notes and vinegar notes that reminds me of belgian bruin kind of beers, complex and layered aroma, but almost too much vanilla and almonds. Surprisingly little wood given the time it's spent barrels. Aroma is very complex , layered and there is a lot to explore. Flavor is cherries, wood, nuts, other fruits, fainter malts, vanilla. not as good as aroma promised, but an interesting old lagered fruit ale nonetheless. The high ABV does not get in the way, and the flavor appears balanced yet very heavy and very deep/layered. Now i think of it, it does taste quite a bit like some of the older and more dry madeira you might encounter.

Bottle split at CBC Islington, thanks to Kenny, 26/04/17. Rich chestnut brown with a well presented beige cap. Nose is toffee, biscuit, light spice, brown sugar, dried fruits. Taste comprises sweet and sour vibes, dark fruit tang, biscuit, toffee, stewed fruits. Medium + body, fine carbonation, drying close with some warming booze and a bourbon tickle. Ok English strong ... just lacks depth and finesse ABV considered.
