It's Broadside, but not as you know it! Aged in ex-bourbon barrels with some cherries inside, this limited edition beer is a taste explosion of oak, cherries, whisky and a touch of rhubarb. Cheers!

Limited edition beer - only in 330ml bottles. 10% abv in the original release.

Next release in 2018 was at 9% abv. If your bottle is labelled 9% it is the Both Barrels (2018) version.

15/2/2025. Bottle at the ITFC vintage and rare Saturday share part 2. From Boxbeers. 2017 Vintage. Pours clear very dark brown with a few bubbles. Aroma is woody, caramel, dried fruits, chocolate, whisky, brown sugar, touch of cheery, boozy notes. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness, quite drying, slight tart edge. Medium body, soft carbonation. Liked it.

Bottle. From a petrol station in Brancaster Staithe, the name of which I forget. But it’s the only petrol station there, so there you go. 9%. Clear dark brown. Decent slim beige foam. Nose has bonfire toffee. Rich sweet malt. Dark sweet cherry. Bit of coffee truffle. Bit of Morello cherry. Taste is sweet with a fruity woody bitterness. Slick and fairly rich with fine brisk carbonation. Wordy and fruity bitterness to finish. Don’t get the low average here. There’s everything to like about it.

Bottle from the brewery shop in Bury St E. Aroma is vinous, with a barrel streak. Inky. A hint of brown. Creamy light beige head. Not 100% coverage. Bitter. Boozy. The barrel aging had taken control. There's some dark fruit but it's that barrel tang. Light bodied. Thin. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Long astringent finish. A basic beer that's been stuck in a barrel. So fun but no surprise that the barrel barges to the front and starts windmilling.

330ml flip-top bottle shared with my brother Rupe on 25th Jun 2021 (it was his bottle). Got to say I was disappointed with this, I love Broadside and was hoping for a really interesting and flavoursome beer but the cherry injection ruined it for me.

Bottle at a tasting. Right off the bat this is slightly acetic in aroma. That also translates into taste, with light sourness. Discernible woodiness, lots of fruits, light cherries, subtle bourbon maybe. Light funk. Relatively easy drinking, with ABV hidden very well. Good one.
