This Peppermint Victory at Sea is a festive take on our popular Imperial Porter. We took our trademark robust porter brewed with Caffe Calabria coffee and vanilla and added a dose of refreshing peppermint. The trio of flavors play perfectly on your palate – the brew’s sweet roastiness balances nicely with a cool, minty finish. You might even call it a breath of fresh beer.

Pours a brown-black color with a medium thick foamy beige head that recedes gradually to a film. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, peppermint and chocolate. Full-bodied with flavors of roasted malt, peppermint, chocolate and coffee. The finish is roasty with a peppermint mocha aftertaste. Pretty good all around.

650 ml bottle from Beergium.
Black body, with a medium, creamy, lacing, beige head.
Aroma of mint, chocolate, vanilla, cocoa, some coffee, slight liquorice.
Tastes pretty similar, with some more alcohol.
Medium to full, creamy mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes roasty, medium dry, a bit bitter, warm, wooden, with cocoa, coffee, liquorice, mint, vanilla.
Tasty. The mint works very well combined with the dark chocolate and vanilla notes. Drinks really smooth and greatly balanced, not too sweet, with an enjoyable, dry roastiness towards the finish. Not on par with the great, regular version, but a tasty addition.

Bomber into a snifter showing pitch black with half a finger of tanned latte foam. The nose shows strong notes of peppermint. The palate is light bodied and highly carbonated; typical porter style. Moderately intense peppermint mouthfeel throughout with the typical dark roasted malts. The sweetness of the peppermint is restrained and further clashes with the dark roasted malts to somehow overemphasize the burnt notes of the malt rather than dark coffee notes. I feel almost as if I should put creamer or sugar into it. Flavors that seemed good on paper don’t work at all here.
