San Francisco, a.k.a “The Paris of the West,” has long been home to a diverse culture of bohemians and a bastion of art, creativity, and progressive thinking.
This decadent dark quadrupel-style ale was created in that same spirit–brewed with dark candi sugar, dried flame grapes, and orange peel, then fermented with a French ale yeast. Pair with funky Roquefort cheese and visions of a grand tomorrow!

Sampled @ Ratebeer Belgian Summer Gathering 2016. Lightly unclear amber color, medium sized beige head that leaves fair lacing and lasts for quite a while. Aroma is a bit meh, quite malty and grainy. Taste is unfortunately a bit sour, it seems infected but that might be due to the orange and grapes which are apparently in there? Anyway, I don’t like it because it really appears to be infected and has that off-putting weird tart flavor I really dislike.

Bomber. Brewdog, Sheffield. Clear, dark, chestnut brown. Film and ring of lasting, beige head. Nose has brown sugar. Dried fig. Some candied orange. Missus reckons rum and raisin ice cream. Taste is caramel sweet. Some burnt caramel bitterness. Palate is lightly chewy. Hint of booze. Really easy drinking. Not too complex. Ok.

Medium beige head doesn’t last. Clear deep dark red body with light carbonation. Fruity spicy alcoholic aroma with dirty earthy notes. Sour vomit-like flavour that quite frankly I’m not going to analyze any further because this is just horrible and undrinkable. Long lingering wooden vomit flavour. My god, this is awful. (0.65l bottle, from Fish & Beer, Copenhagen.)

22 oz. bottle. Dark brown, with a bit of a ruby hue. Medium, bubbly, tan head, with a persistent film and ring. The nose is white raisins, bitter chocolate, tart apricots, toffee, and thyme. Sweet and very tart, at first. The tartness mellows out as it warms, leaving a pretty good sweetness and some yeasty esters. Heavy body, syrupy, sticky, fairly astringent and acidic, and harsh. This is an interesting, oddly tart, quad, but not entirely unpleasant. Lovely and complex aroma, but a truly unusual and off-putting flavor.

Bomber - pours a clear purple - soapy lace - sticky sweet nose, with some burnt sugars and strong raisin character, orange peel - malt and fruit dominate, with limited apparent yeast character - flavor is not as sweet, but mostly dominated by caramelized, nearly burnt malt and charred raisins - there’s a weird vegetal character through the middle - finish has some light pepper - eh.
