San Francisco, a.k.a “The Paris of the West,” has long been home to a diverse culture of bohemians and a bastion of art, creativity, and progressive thinking.
This decadent dark quadrupel-style ale was created in that same spirit–brewed with dark candi sugar, dried flame grapes, and orange peel, then fermented with a French ale yeast. Pair with funky Roquefort cheese and visions of a grand tomorrow!

Bottle at ChrisO’s Pre-Christmas Tasting. It pours clear deep red - brown with a medium beige head. The nose is bitter - sweet, toasty, raisin, fruit cake, spice and candied peel. The taste is bitter - sweet, toasty, raisin, date, other dried fruits, fruit cake, brown bread, spice and toasted brown sugar. Medium + body and fine carbonation. Not a huge amount of depth for the style. A touch overly sweet. OK.

Bottle split at Chriso pre Xmas tasting, 06/12/15. Mahogany brown with moderate tan Edgework. Nose is toffee, biscuit, light spice, herbal notes, dark fruit shreds. Taste comprises tarte fruits, light chilli, toffee, spice, vanilla, funky notes. Medium + bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. So so affair, delivers little for the ABV.

Bottle shared at the chriso and Ruth pre-Christmas / post-Pigs Ear holiday tasting of 2015 - London. Cheers! Pours clear red-brown with a frothy tan head. The nose has notes of toffee, ripe fruits, bread. Medium to heavy sweet flavour with licks of ripe, gooey dark fruits, dates, figs, brown sugar. Medium to full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Sweet finish, sugary and bready, with some caramel and continuing ripe fruit character. Tasty beer. Does what you would expect of a quad.

22 oz bottle poured. Pours a reddish brown with a quick fade head. Plum and brown sugar like aroma. Flavor is plum, orange and chocolate. Smooth drink. A lot going on here. Very tasty.

Draft - Fruity prune, dark malts and a touch of cocoa. Clear dark Amber with a decent white head. Sweet dark fruit, prune and a dark malt finish. Just not on par with the regular belgian options.

On tap at Belmont Station Bier Cafe, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma reveals a complex mix of candied sugar, dark fruits, and Belgian yeast. Flavour is very complex and authentic for a North American quad, with Belgian yeast, candied sugar, deep dark fruits and toffee. Surprisingly authentic, with a lovely dryness to bring out the yeast quality. Wonderful stuff.

A reddish copper ale with a off white head. In aroma, sweet fruity malt with candy sugar, butterscotch, loads of alcohol, licorice and dark fruits. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity malt with candy sugar, light maple, dark fruits, curacao, warming alcohol, very nice. On tap at Rattle N Hum.
