In 2016 most bottles are the regular edition, but they also made a limited edition with red grapes. You can tell the difference if the grapes under the gnome’s beard are red instead of white/greenish.

Appelation d’Origine Controlée Coteaux Bourguignons

Later version were named 'Chateau D'ychouffe Rosé ' - making it easier to tell both white and red grape versions appart.

Bottled. Reddish amber colour with a mediumsized slightly off white head which leaves lace. Aroma is grapes, some fruits and mild cherry tones with a bit red wine tones. Flavour is cherries, wine like tones, mild grapes and some mild tannin tones too. Smooth.

*rating overgezet uit 2018* Het is een helder oranjeachtig bier. Het heeft een wijn achtige zure geur. De smaak is fruitg, druiven achtig en wrang.

Special and limited edition of the 'pink' version of Chateau d'Ychouffe, 75 cl bottle from Beergium - no doubt this 'red grape' edition, as the grapes on the label are indeed red, but that is apparently the only way to distinguish it from its regular white grape form. Thick and mousy, snow white, foamy, regularly shaped head, orangey-hued rosy amber robe, initially lightly hazy but misty with sediment. Aroma of rosehip tea, bubblegum, plaster, unripe banana, rosé wine, cava, raspberry ice cream, 'tutti frutti', apricot, unripe green melon, white bread slices, soap. Sweet onset with initially only faint grapey sourishness, more banana- and bubblegum-like isoamylacetate, red apple and apricot notes, somewhat glueish mouthfeel with lively but not harshly stinging fizz; white bready malt body with sourish undertone that grows stronger towards the finish, eventually indeed - and at last - revealing a touch of red grapes, adding a soft, cava- and rosé wine-like tartness to an otherwise soapy, plastery, cereally body. Weird combo of flavours, like regular La Chouffe with rosé wine added - not my kind of beer, but admittedly different and special, and suitable as an apéritif. I dislike the soapy, plastery and bubblegummy basic character of it, though, just like I do with the regular version.

At Ghent Beer Festival 2017. Clear red with a frothy, off-white, pinkish head. The aroma contains cherry, grapefruit, strawberry, grape, sugar & jam. It tastes medium sour and light sweet. Medium body, thin/slick texture, fizzy carbonation. Disappointing palate; interesting take on the regular Chouffe beers.

Bottled 750ml (Beergium)
It suprised me that I have bought a gnome with red grapes! Deep amber color, mostly vanishing off-white head. Aroma is whitewineous - grapes, fruity. Light to medium-bodied. Crisp, champagne-like carbonation. A bit sweetish, apple-like grape flavor. Light fruityness leading to a bit sweet-acidic finish. Champagne-like, more even more Sovetskoye Shampanskoye -like. Good Achouffe-quality but not really such a beer I would like to drink a lot.

Sampled @ KBF 2016, Essen. Clear fluorescent orange to red color, average sized off-white head. Aroma unfortunately has dyacetyl and butter. Flavor is off too but the fruityness in there makes it drinkable. Not good unfortunately.

[Thank you for sharing!][750 ml. bottle sampled @ O.B.E.R. Kerstbierfestival 2016] Rose appearance with off-white, vaguely off-pink head. Nose is huge on yoghurt, red grape yoghurt profile, fermenting yoghurt with low metallic streak. Tastes like yoghurt heavy Rose wine, red grape, big metallic, yoghurt is interesting but also far too dominating, low sugar, red grape. Fermenting yoghurt body. Great story behind the beer, more interesting than the white grape one, I would expect more complexity here, interesting but not as good as hoped.
