Flavour is grapes, some raspberries, mild herbal tones with some alcohol, sweet malts and a bit toffee tones. Nice fruity and spicy aftertaste.

*rating overgezet uit 2018* Het is een helder oranjeachtig bier. Het heeft een wijn achtige zure geur. De smaak is fruitg, druiven achtig en wrang.

Bottle: Poured a hazy brown/reddish color ale with a large off-white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of sweet Belgian malt with some rosé grapes notes also clearly perceptible. Taste is also a mix of sweet Belgian malt notes with some vinous notes with lightly sweet rosé grapes notes. Body is full with excellent carbonation. I wasn't sure the mix between rosé and beer would work but this is actually quite spectacular.

2017 bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, JAN 19. Pours clear gold with the lightest rose tinge, patchy off white foamy head. Aroma has fresh grape sweetness, bubblegum. Taste is sweet, fruity grape, bubblegum, yeasty chouffe combining to form a swirling sweetness, accentuating varying components on subsequent sips. Not very cohesive. Expected a similarly effervescent bubbles to the original, but this felt a lot smoother. On the fence with this.

Special and limited edition of the 'pink' version of Chateau d'Ychouffe, 75 cl bottle from Beergium - no doubt this 'red grape' edition, as the grapes on the label are indeed red, but that is apparently the only way to distinguish it from its regular white grape form. Thick and mousy, snow white, foamy, regularly shaped head, orangey-hued rosy amber robe, initially lightly hazy but misty with sediment. Aroma of rosehip tea, bubblegum, plaster, unripe banana, rosé wine, cava, raspberry ice cream, 'tutti frutti', apricot, unripe green melon, white bread slices, soap. Sweet onset with initially only faint grapey sourishness, more banana- and bubblegum-like isoamylacetate, red apple and apricot notes, somewhat glueish mouthfeel with lively but not harshly stinging fizz; white bready malt body with sourish undertone that grows stronger towards the finish, eventually indeed - and at last - revealing a touch of red grapes, adding a soft, cava- and rosé wine-like tartness to an otherwise soapy, plastery, cereally body. Weird combo of flavours, like regular La Chouffe with rosé wine added - not my kind of beer, but admittedly different and special, and suitable as an apéritif. I dislike the soapy, plastery and bubblegummy basic character of it, though, just like I do with the regular version.

Bottle [gift from Inoven] @ home. Unclear pinkish-amber color, virtually no head. Aroma is moderately malty with a fruity whim. Flavor is a bit lemonade-ish, a slight fruity tart note and a light malty base. Fine alternative for a wine-rosé I'd say. Well made. Not my thing really but well made.
