Hazy brown, thin, off-white head. Aroma of brown sugar, pear syrup, plum, dark honey, caramel, liquorice, tea leaves. Taste has very sweet pear & plum, brown sugar, honey, bitter herbs & vague juniper for balance. Herbal hops in the finish, lingering candied fruit, perfumey honey, flowery herbs and warming alcohol hinting perhaps at spiced mead. Medium body, syrupy texture, average carbonation. Herbs set the tone but don't dominate here, which is an an accomplishment in itself. Apart from that I'm a sucker for Belgian Dark/Dubbel anyway, although I find Viking references rather silly ('cringe' as Gen Z would say).

10/06/2016 @home - 33cl bottle bought from brewer @ZBF. Clear dark amber bear with medium head, quickly fading. Nose is malts, yeast, lightly some herbs. Taste is sugary, boozy, some caramel, not much of spices to notice. Feeling is more like a overly sweet barleywine than a spice beer.

Sampled at Zythos 2016. Thnx for sharing, everyone ! Pours unclear dark amber, small white head. Smell is bit bitter, sweet, taste is sweet, much Sugar. Very uninspired. Meh.

Sample @ Zythos’16, courtesy of and shared with the RB Belgian crew. On reprend un peu la recette de la Fin mais avec plus de malt, le résultat est tjrs décevant. Malt cara pale, léger biscuité avec un côté céréales. Très peu en terme d’apport de ces fameuses herbes vikings.

Sampled @ ZBF 2016 (Thank you for sharing RB people!) Lightly hazy amber – after trying their amber Imperial Stout – okay… off-white head. Vegetable & herbal oily tea rubbish nose; Taste is vegetable plants, oily, over-carbonated, fizzy, herbal nonsense. Not for me.

Trübes dunkel orange goldenes Bier mit geringen weißen Schaumkrone. Geruch leicht hefig, leicht bananig, würzig. Geschmack süß malzig, Karamell, etwas nussig, leicht alkoholisch.

From tap. Pours clear and golden orange with a small tan head. Aroma is smooth fruity and crisp hoppy. Smooth fruity, bitter and crisp hoppy. Smooth fruity finish and crisp hoppy finish.

Orange color with small white head. Aroma is caramel, some hints of vomit, a cat piss hoppiness. Taste is the same. Medium carbonation. Meh.
