The Dikke Jan Blond is a pure blond beer, brewed only with lager malt and a flake of corn. The low alcohol percentage (5.5 °) was deliberately kept at this level. This is not a lager. Many think that given the low volume of alcohol, this is rather a lager but nothing is less true. The beer is first brewed with high fermentation but has a very strong fresh hoppy taste. A real thirst quencher. The pleasant bitterness together with a subtle citrus touch makes this beer a hit.

Sampled at Zythos 2016. Thnx for sharing, everyone ! Pours unclear blonde, small white head. Smell is yeasty, bit bitter. Taste is yeasty, bitter, and very, VERY overcarbonated ( to a point the bottles probably nearly explode )

33 cl bottle. Pours hazy yellow with a small white head. Aroma is mild fruity, slight estery. Mild fruity, phenolic, light estery. Mellow fruity. Toasted. Light estery. Smooth fruity finish.

Sample @ Zythos’16, courtesy of and shared with the RB Belgian crew. Likely the worse beer at Zythos, sorry folks. Blonde, dorée, col fin blanc. Arôme est finement aigrelet, fermenté levure, agrumes avec un côté citronnelle. Palais est bcp trop effervescent au point de cacher tout caractère de cette bière. Ce pétillant est accompagné d’une note épicée, houblons ou levure? Une autre catastrophe signée Gaverhopke.

Cloudy orange color with white head. Aroma is spicy yeasts, apples, floral. Taste is spicy, tart, wheat, dry finish. Overcarbonated, unfortunately. The apple-ness feels off. Not great.

Sampled @ ZBF 2016 (Thank you for sharing RB people!) I tried both the Tripel & Blond from these guys. Tripel was nothing exciting but it was okay – that beer was brewed at Deca. This one however was made at ‘t Gaverhopke where beers go to get infected. Stop commissioning beers at this brewery, they produce dreadful rubbish, surely these guys must have tried their Tripel & Blond themselves & realized that something had gone really wrong with their Blond? Do they really think that this fine? Either way this is hazy citrus, little off- white head. Massive chemical artificial sweetness & some herbs. Insanely over-carbonated with green banana, chemical, carbonated down to the point that you basically taste nothing anymore, some chemicals. If these guys ever go out of business, I prupose we burn down the brewery & salt the earth.

Taste: dish soap, pretty bitter, more soapy flavours, bit sweet, unpleasant bitterness. Aftertaste: bit sourish, spicy touch, soapy bitterness, don't like this one at all...
