American Red Ale.

A well balanced combination of rich malty flavours with a touch of caramelised grain on top, blended with a lively quantity of both American late addition hops and British bittering hops.

440ml can from a deli in Llangollen, Wales, UK. Pours a cloudy orange-bronze color with an off-white head and good retention. Very good lacing. Hoppy aroma. Initial light caramel notes up front, followed by moderate hops in the finish, yet not bitter. Smoother than most red ales, yet it is still hoppier than I prefer. Medium body and low, soft carbonation. Light bitterness.

Cask at Tapps Rhos. Opaque brown. Thick foamy white head. Medium bitter. Grainy. Rye, flour. Slight sourness. Underlying malts. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Flat carbonation. Long dry slightly astringent finish. As far as Reds go, overly polite and lacking oomph.

Bottled. A red beer with a beige head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and fruit. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and fruit, leading to a dry nutty finish.
