On tap at Apex, pours jet black with a small tan head. Aroma is abrasive, with loads of roasted malt, piney hops, and light coffee. Flavour is surprisingly sweet for the style, with lots of roasted malt, caramel malt, lots of sweetness and piney hops. Unusually sweet for a black IPA, especially an imperial. Abrasive and difficult to drink. But it's a fun beer.

12 fl oz bottle from Beergium. Black colour with a biege foam head leaving lots of lacing. Nose of molasses, malt, coffee and abit of fruity peach. Flavour is sweet malty, woody, oak, molasses, dried fruits, brown sugar, caramel, coffee, some peach, fruity. Full to medium bodied, soft carbonation, slightly dry earthy malty bitter finish. Nicely drinkable.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks Stas & Vova. Dark brown to black, tan head. Piney hops, resinous, a bit stale, roast, light alcohol note, sweet, chocolate, caramel, toffee, bitter finish, medium-bodied. Doesn’t feel like 14% and not like a Black IPA.

tap at beerlovers bar. Pours black, very small grey head. Smell is boozy, roasty, bit bitter. Taste is strong, thick, bit boozy, pure chooclate, very mild bitterness. Sweet, roasty. very very nice, but I’d view this as a great imperial stout, it’s by far not hoppy enough to be a ’triple black IPA ’

Bottle courtesy of Geraint and Helen cheers you two, consumed at home Thursday 26th January 2017. Pours black as yer ’at with a tan head. Sticky, really sticky, sweet (surprisingly so), really thick in the mouth, boozy, hoppy. I like this but Loz prefers it to me, for me it’s just a little too sweet. Some sweet camp coffee elements show. Black treacle and a hoppiness merge, good, but wish the sweetness had of been tempered for a rise in hoppiness and bitterness. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov14 3.7

BBE 27.04.2026. Maybe 9 months old. A black beer, a head is dense, medium and brown. Aroma has dried and intensive fruitness, also sweet and tropical fruitness with fructose, liquirice and some coffee. Sweet and dried fruity taste, liquirice, burned sugar. No alcohol. Some bitterness is balancing the sweetness but it feels quite mild due to sweetness. Full bodied, not stickyness. Strong sweetness is slightly too much, otherwise the dried fruitness is nice.
