11th Anniversary Ale.
A blend of imperial stout, imperial brown, porter and imperial red ales, all aged in new American oak, bourbon and brandy barrels.
As a finished beer- Eleven is far more structured and refined than any previous blend. We bottled this beer a full month before release to allow it to integrate fully. It is not a beer of broad strokes or exclamation points, but a beer of subtle nuances and secrets. It best enjoyed in a half filled brandy snifter or wine glass. Allow it to warm to 55F to fully enjoy the pleasing and complex aromas. We kept the carbonation very low to compliment Eleven’s smooth texture. If left in a cool dark place, I suspect that this beer will age well.

Many thanks to my Secret Santa for this - dark ruby with a brownish hue - warming alcohol/whiskey aroma, with notes of brown sugar, cinnamon, roasted nuts, vanilla, coconut - warming, but not hot or boozy - vanilla, toasted coconut, notes of whiskey, light chocolate and nutella/hazelnut - lingering toffee and an ever so light oak presence - actually tastes quite similar to the 10th, which, of course, is a good thing.

Bottle Odeed got at the brewpub in Paso yesterday and shared (great friend) with me! Nose of chocolate, vanilla, oak, and caramel (oak shows up heavily but not the bourbon and brandy, this is a great form of barrel aging without all the liquor flavors); Clear dark brown with a ring of medium bubbles around the glasses edge; Flavor of oaky vanilla (bunches), caramel, and chocolate. Great brew, tickles my vanilla fancy wothout all the usual alcohol of impys! My next to the last bottle from my cellar. 11/20/11 Nose is big vanilla, chocolate, oak, vanilla, and light bourbon. Cloudy dark brown with a small amount fo beige bubbles. Flavor is bourbon, woody oak, chocolate, slight toffee, and a hint of oxidation. 9,4,8,4,17 4.2

FoBAB Chicago, 2007. Looks like the place to rate "XI Quercus Alba." A big head that smells like a hefe quality, then somehow resolves to a cotton candy smell. Sweeter than most extreme beers, but not overly so. Taste mellows down to that of a well-kept barley wine, but with a very smooth blond ale texture.
