Feeling the bite of the British winter, we decided to riff on two classic styles typically best enjoyed when its cold outside. Combining the smooth, clean body and strength of a Baltic Porter with the rich malt profile and yeast aromatics from a traditional Brown Ale, this hybrid is multi-layered and remarkably full-flavoured without sitting heavy on the palate.

5/8/2020. Can from CentrAle, Newcastle. Poured medium to dark brown with a bubbly beige head. Aroma of milk chocolate, roasted malt, caramel, nuts, fruit and a little veg. Medium sweetness and light bitterness. Moderate body, slightly watery texture, average carbonation. Surprisingly weak bodied, but otherwise pretty good.

Can from BGB, shared with Hrabren and Ogi in ZG. Brown, off white head. Nutty aroma, creamy, light raisins, estery touches. Creamy taste, simple silky nutty maltiness, light raisins. Veeery smooth, veeery well hidden alcohol. Nice higher boost brown ale.

0.5 l can from Prague thanks to Marko. Shared with Ogi and him. Dark brown, small beige head, lacing. Cardboard at first, oxidation, hints of dried fruit underneath. Slightly sticky, sweetish, nice dried fruit aroma. Light to medium body, surprisingly so for 7%. Nuts, some honey, syrup. Not as rich, although quite complex. Soft, light finish. Good balance. Might not resemble a Baltic Porter, but this is a good one.

Can from Cloudwater online store Manchester. A dark brown coloured pour with a medium beige head on top. Sweet, malty, caramel, dark fruit aroma and taste. It's fine but I expected a lot more from a Cloudwater beer.

Very dark brown with lasting head. Aroma and flavour have loads of malt sweetness. Background hints of chocolate and burnt malts. Silky mouthfeel.
