Bottle at home, from AH. Clear golden ale with white head. Oof! Stale ol’ dead pilsener, something’s rotting in the state of Denmark! This dusty old dust is a-gettin’ my home, and I got to be driftin’ along. Some rice krispie / manna, weak dusty sweetness. Below medium sweet. Disgusting finish, onions and whipped cream. Wtf peeps? Body is medium and the mouthfeel is quite fat, but the finish is very dry and unpleasant. Not my cup of tea, sad waste of moneys. Sharing this one with the sewer rats. --- Beer merged from original tick of Southern Pale Ale on 21 Nov 2017 at 20:09 - Score: 4. Original review text: 2.1

330 ml. bottle sampled @ home. Purchased at Albert Heijn. BBF26-11-16. Clear sparkling bright golden amber, little off-white head. Nose is almost akin to a pale lager, massively oily, big vegetable oil, insecticide, cardboard, cooked vegetables. Taste is sweet oily very sweet vegetable oil apple, artificial corn, stevia, plant sweet, cardboard,… Taste is ever so slightly a bit further removed from a plae lager than the smell, weird artificial apple sugar stevia covers it a bit but still big vegetable oil, cardboard,… Oily thin, cardboard, dust,…. A very minor step up from a pale lager, very close, comfortable for pale lager drinkers both quite worthless for others.

Bottle from Albert Heijn. Clear golden with short lasting fizzy white head. Cardboard, really dusty old grains, caramel, toffee, corn, light syrup, lemon candies that somebody forgot in the cupboard that have gone stale, skunky, dried out yoghurt. Light sweet and bitter. Under medium bodied with low carbonation and overall stale feel. Horrible. Why would anyone import this from the other side of the world? What a waste of resources.

Bottle from an Albert Heijn supermarket. Promises ’southern pale ale’ so I guessed it was hopped with Nelson Sauvin or something - but anyway: thick, sticky, coarse, off-white head, warm ’old gold’ colour, cristal clear. Aroma of soggy sugar corn, apple juice, flowers, breakfast cereals, hint of ’cooked’ pasteurization - in all, not very hoppy to say the least, and way sweeter than expected. Sweet but clean onset, very apple-like, thinnish but somehow sticky mouthfeel, soft carbo, underlying ’basic’ but inexpressive sourishness, ’dead’ main taste, lean graininess with a bready hint growing stronger and even a tad ’powdery’ in the end, soft floral hoppiness providing underachieving bitterness and dito retronasal aromas. With all due respect for brewer’s intent but this is not a pale ale: this is a simple, plain golden ale at best, intended for easy and uncomplicated session drinking. Whatever, but please do not call it a "pale ale" then... Boring and too sweet in a strange, unpleasantly apple-ish kind of way.

33cl bottle. Clear amber with a thin white head that disappears in an instant. Smells lie burnt caramel, lemon juice, red fruit and bubble gum. The taste follows the same note, and odd mix of red fruit, bitter hops and bubble gum. Not bad!

Golden, plentiful fine carbonation , white lace. Full chewy body with sparkles. Good malt notes, a hint dust, grassy hop finish with a bit of staying power. Not too far from a good Helles.

Fra flaske på Cardinal, Mandag i annen 01.02.16: klar gylden med hvitt skum. Lukter kokte grønnsaker, og smaker i tillegg av gress og brøddeig. Har de brukt gammel humle? What’s the point, it’s just bloody boring.
