200 ml. from 750 ml. bottle @ Billie’s Bier Kafétaria during the Redchurch Tap Takeover. About 6 months old, saison with wine lees. Hazy golden with a white head. Nose is oddly very sweet white grapes, massively sweet vanilla mixed with some dirty barnyard funk, very odd. Taste is weird mineral funk, big dirty funk, sour white grapes, massive wine alcohol, vanilla, sweet grapes, boozy, puckering, lactic, sour, raw,… Soft carbonation. This beer is just too complex for me (I think that is the first time I say that about a beer), it is mildly sour & funky but also massive sweet & excessively alcoholic etc. It could have worked if it were just one thing like, sweet , vinous or funky but this is just too much all at once, massively alcoholic, massive vinous alcohol doesn’t help either.

Keg at the brewery. Hazed golden orange coloured pour with a steadfast creamy of white head. Aroma is semi sweet green apple, slight caramel, grapey fruit, hints of grapey fruits. Grains. Flavour is composed of semi sweet grains, green apple, some hot alcohol, little yeast stress, little meaty. Spicy alcohol. Palate is medium bodied, spicy , moderate carbonation. Big beer. But signs of a stressed ferment. .

Keg at BD Soho. It pours cloudy deep amber with a small off-white head. The nose is sweet, earthy, funky, brown bread, cereal, floral, hay, bubble gum and grape. The taste is bitter-sweet, earthy, dirty, spice, mouldy old apple, over-ripe pear, sticky, cloying, boozy, musty, funk, mouldy blue cheese, spice, damp leaves and some sweet plastic with a hot, spicy finish. Medium - full body, fine carbonation and chewy mouth-feel. Heavy duty and quite rough around the edges. Hopefully this gets better with age. A rare miss from Redchurch.

Keg at Mother Kelly’s - London. Pours unclear gold with a creamy white head. The nose holds old, damp dandelions, rotten apple, saison yeast, dough. Medium to heavy sweet flavor with moderate alcohol boost, orange, fermented apples, hay, pale grains. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Hot finish with a note of raw alcohol, more gains, wheat, fermenting fruits, pale bread. So so.
