Bottle shared in Hackney - cheers to Danny. Pours black-brown with a foamy, off-white head. The nose holds choclate, ate, brownies, dried berries, earth. Light to medium sweet flavour with toasted marshmallows, scorched earth. Light bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Balanced finish, some toasted brown bread, mellow cocoa, soft earthy bitterness. Very drinkable.

Bodney Bier Huis bottleshare. Thanks to Dan. Semi opaque dark brown beer, small tan head. Palate is light and semi dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Thin dark malts, little cream overpowered by bitter thin tangy dark chocolate. Bitter floral dry finish. Nothing here I like.

On tap at the Gryphon, Bristol May 2017. Near black in colour, with a thin, beige, head. Dark berries, some orange peel, toasted malts, liquorice and a hint of citrus hop, before a dryish finish. A good beer.

0.75 l bottle at RBBWG 2016 in Antwerpen from ’Saveur Bière’, best before December 2016. Clear, dark brownish amber with a thin, frothy, tan head. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty aroma of milk coffee, milk chocolate, caramel and nuts. Sweetish-malty, roasty taste of dark chocolate, coffee, caramel and licorice, followed by a short, slightly bitter, roasty finish. Medium body, slightly creamy mouthfeel. Nice!
