Our India-style Export Stout is a unique collaboration with award-winning homebrewer Alex Tweet. Released in limited quantities, this explosion of South Asian flavors is reason enough to kneel down and thank the heavens. It’s further proof of San Diego’s status as a brewer’s playground, and a beer lover’s utopia.

Pours dark brown, not much of head (but my pint glass was filled to the edge). Aroma has some quite interesting curry character, full of spices. Taste is also full of different sensations, at first hey are difficult to pinpoint down but then the overarching curry becomes more apparent. Perfectly balanced, leaves somewhat sweetish feeling at first but then spiciness takes over. Very happy I tried this, will probably try it again sometime - but almost feel that one pint is enough.

22 oz. bottle shared by Willrunforbeer. Pitch black color with fast dying head. Aroma is curry powder, cooked vegetables and hot peppers.
As a commercial brewer how do you come up with the idea to create a curry stout?? I mean you really, REALLY, need to like curry to try this. A long lingering blast of curry throughout the sip with hints of cinnamon, old coffee and rounded out with cayenne pepper.
After two sip Brian and I looked at each other and poured this down the drain, terrible. Was this a joke or for real??

Draft at Olympic. From notes. Coffee, chocolate and curry. Spicy but a quick heat. Great with my burger.

Pronounced aroma of pencil shavings, light curry accents. Mahogany, medium beige head. Curry is more noticeable on the palate. Charred oak and pencil shavings are dominant however. Medium body, moderate carboantion. Many of the spices listed on the label, of which I’m familiar, are not detected in the beer. I don’t think that’s a bad thing as I’m not sure they would enhance it very much. The curry is a nice touch and makes for a unique experience.

Has a kick to it with the Cayenne pepper and Madras Curry. Slight coconut taste. Very interesting. Excellent artwork.

Strange but well done. Definitely tastes like chai or something along those lines. Light caramel and roast. Pours black with good head and lacing. Spicy. Tap at blind tiger.

Bottle sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks Ariel. Dark brown to black with a beige head. Smells like Indian food. Roasty flavor with chocolate, Indian food and a hot finish. Medium-bodied. An interesting gimmick but not pleasant and very hard to drink.

Bottle at Craig’s, Eyes watering slightly from the smell. Creamy, coconut, lots of spice. Blends perfectly into Thai green curry in a bottle. Bottle at Appellation, something like the 5th time trying it now. Huge cumin, curry and kaffir nose, taste is similar, some of the coconut coming through. Quite a lingering burn.
