Bruce’s birthday tasting st the craft. Nose is lychee tumeri curry. Flavour is perfumed hot spicy finish that lingers. Very unusual but it hangs together very well.

Good lord what a crazy brew. I ordered not knowing what it was. It took me awhile before I figured out it was curry and the all I could think of was this Thai Green Curry dish I always order for take out. In fact if I get drunk and then by mistake spill whatever stout im drinking into my food and then instead of discarding slurp up juices then that is this beer. really interesting and fun, slick finish with heat hitting hard in after taste.

Sample from 65 cl. bottle. Pitch black with a thin, tan head. Very spicy aroma with lots of curry, pepper, limes, vanilla and coconut. Roasted malts. Taste is sweet. Medium body, soft carbonation. Finishes lightly bitter and spicy with the entire menu from an Indian restaurant. Butter chicken and papadams, anyone?

65 cl bottle @ olio, enjoy by 01/02/2013
Aroma is rather intensive with spices – feels exactly like an indian shop or restaurant. Curry chicken and nothing else. Flavour has curry chicken and finishes with slightly burning chili and cayenne. Quite unique, looks like a stout but no signs of roastiness whatsoever. A liquid version of Indian curry chicken. Really slow beer, probably would take a two-hour Bollywood movie to finish the whole bottle.

BBE 01/02/13 - Pours pitch black with a small head. Smells like stepping into an Indian restaurant. Massive amounts of spices, curry, cayanne and cononut notes in the aroma. Taste is spicy, slightly roasty and warming with spicy notes, curry, pepper and rice. Finish is slick and spicy with warming pepper notes and curry. Quite complex and unique spice bomb.

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, hops, and chocolate. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, chocolate, alcohol, chili, cocoa, and citrus fruits, leading to a dry and bitter finish. Smooth.

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of Ungstrup. Pours an opaque black with a vague orangey hue and a creamy light brown head. Coconut aroma combined with spice resulting in an almost Bourbon-like character - very odd. Medium body, sweet overripe fruit, a very odd but distinct curry note and quite a chili bite. Ends sweet and massively spicy. Very odd but quite interesting and complex - you keep finding new layers in this one. 250113

Damn what an interesting beer or at least a novel beer. I have wanted to try this for a while and I so wanted to share this with the beer geeks back in KS but checked baggage costs are so high. Either way, pours like a regular stout and good god all mighty the nose hits you like an Indian rock. Damnnnnnn, someone get me a mango lassi to go along with this beer. Its strong and I like Indian food but I do not loooooveeee Indian food, so its a bit of a conundrum. Flavor is better, more subdued, get some stout and strong but not hella (as the kids say) strong curry. Heat, the heat between me and this beer. its not the pepper ale type heat, its a small but constant heat that comes in waves and burns the top of your intestines, I love it. Cool beer. Bottle is filter clean after the last pour. This one is with you in mind Eric.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a thinnish, fast-dying, one centimetre tall light brown head. Super potent aroma (even noticeable on the bottlecap) of curry, coconut, lemons, roasted malt, alcohol, cumin and way more curry - really nice smelling. Medium-bodied; Strong assertive roasted malt flavours with bunches of curry, cumin, coconut and nutty flavours tucked in to a nice sweet finish with the complexity going strong. The aftertaste does something very nice - mellows out almost completely and shows a very peppery and chile flavoured heat with some light sugars and lactic notes. Overall, a pretty complex beer and one that actually works quite well - definitely worth trying if you can find it! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 12-December-2012 for US$8.99 sampled at home in Washington on 15-January-2013. -- From 2018: Deep dark brown coloured body with a very slick oily mocha and deep brown coloured tint with just a sliver of a of violet glow when held up to the light. Aroma of amazing curry notes with curry leaves, coconut milk, roasted malt, oatmeal, pure sugars, a touch of chile and heat and finishing with a robust richness near the end showing the coconut milk and light spice notes more than anything else. Medium-bodied; Super strong curry and deep flavours with coconut and earth throughout. Nice to sample again!
