250ml on tap at Cafe Sara, 2016 edition. Shiny black surface. Deep black with a rustic shade. Fragile lacing. Aroma of coconut, oak and bourbon. Rich taste of vanilla chocolate, dark caramel, nuts, and bread back by the bourbon touch. Full bodied lingering and warming down the swallow. Velvety mouth feel. Lovely (Oslo 09.11.2016).

Bottle at Bergen Ølfestival. A dark brown beer topped by a small beige head. Some oxidation in the aroma, with dried fruits, prunes and figs, some alcohol and chocolate hints. It’s full-bodied, warming and smooth on the palate. Some alcohol in the flavor, vanilla and coconut too, as well as dried fruits, oxidation notes and some chocolate. Lasting finish. A lovely one, although a bit on the warming side. 150905

Smaken er kompleks, fyldig og so very smooth. Lekker og balansert ettersmak, denne var verdt en ekstra sykkeltur til byen, og jeg hadde gjerne tatt et glass til. Varmet i magen hele veien hjem. Barley wine/farlig god wine.

05.09.2015, 0,33l bottle sampled @ Bergen Ølfestival:
Nice creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet, caramel malts, dark sugar, oak, burnt caramel, grass, raisins, grain, chocolate, hay, alcohol. Taste is slightly dry boozy, oak, whiskey, caramel malts, grass, burnt caramel, weeds, dark sugar, weeds, dark fruits, licorice. Medium bitterness, slightly dry boozy mouthfeel. Nice, but probably a bit too fresh. I’d probably age it for a while...
