Warp refers to the threads that run north-south in fabric, while Weft refers to the threads that run east-west. They are woven together to create cloth, something altogether greater than the sum of its parts.
Last year's version was a berliner weisse aged for 3 months in tequila barrels. This year's version is a mixed fermentation that utilized lactic acid bacteria and sacchromyces, in addition to several strains of brettanomyces, and was then aged for 12 months in tequila barrels.
What it smells and tastes like: Sour, citrusy, and taking on all the complex flavours of tequila without the harsh alcohol heat, this intense beer is strangely like a margarita. Subtle flavours of aloe, grapefruit, lime juice, agave, and salt vie for a background role.

Draft @ ML Fontainas. Couleur dorée, col blanc. Arôme au bouquet plaisant restituant bien le caractère de Tequila. Retrouve des effluves finement boisées avec un côté de moût - malté minime. Palais met bien en avant la Tequila, qui reste cependant difficile à utiliser dans le barrel aging, du moins ce que j’ai déjà pu en goûter. Ici, cela passe bien, retrouve un côté un peu suret et une effervescence faible. Garde une approche des levures sauvages - brett qui reste faible et un côté citrique semble également être amoindri par une certaine douceur de la barrique. Le profil indique un niveau d’alcool qui est plus prononcée que sur une Berliner habituelle.

July 2015 bottle. Gotta love Bellwoods dedication to trying new things and their barrel-aging program. This sly devil pours a slightly hazy gold, and couldn’t hold a head if it owned it’s own guillotine. Nose is a mild sour tang, with tequila and oak, and a little vanilla. The taste is smooth and mildly sweet, with a laco tang of tequila, some cereal malts, and oak. Really, really nice. Not a giant winey sour, nor a harsh b Weiss. Just really well balance and a super sipper.

Aroma has sour cream, tart apples and milky tones. Flavour has tartish apple juice, some milky notes and some grapefruit. Weird, like a mixture of cider and gueuze.

250 ml. draft @ Chez Moeder Lambic Fontainas. Lightly hazy golden, vanishing egg-white head. Nose is oddly sweet, vanilla, exotic fruits, guava, sour, oak, light spirit,… Taste is weird alcohol, mineral, sour, oak, mineral quality that almost goes towards salty, oddly alcoholic, guava, candy, exotic fruits, peach, sour, big candy / tequila quality with some alcohol, oak, very strange mix of sweetness, candy, mellow sourness and alcohol, exotic candy, caramel, quite cocktail-like,… Low carbonation, easy to drink despite being oddly boozy, quite cocktail-like, juice,… Almost off-putting on the first sip, it really grew on me, unique. 7 % ABV according to the menu.

Bottle: Poured a pale yellow color Berliner with a huge white foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of light tequila notes with some tart wheat notes. Taste is a well-balanced mix between some light tequila notes with some wheat notes and light tart notes. Body is light with excellent carbonation. I usually don’t like tequila barrel beers but this was an exception with great balance between the barrel and the base beer.

Bottle - Raw wood and some tequila notes. Cloudy yellow with a decent white head. Raw oak, tequila, lime and a long tart finish. Ends clean. Unique, but I love it.

(500mL bottle from brewery) Pours a lightly hazed pale gold with a smallish head of fine white bubbles, no lace. Aroma dominated by tequila barrel character, both agave and wood, a bit fruity and citrusy, lime I think, and lightly sour/tart and lactic. In the mouth, fairly lactic and sour in character, slight sweetness to the malt though. Initially a little fruity, lemon/lime, tangy, and that tang lingers as it dries towards the finish with a big kick of tequila and wood. The more it warms, the earlier in the sip all that tequila appears. Mouthfeel is average, carb high but soft and effervescent, cleansing. The tequila definitely stands out in this beer, maybe not as well-integrated as the chard version but interesting and still quite drinkable.
