We are making a crisp lager and are spicing it a bit with crowberries, which is like a sloe. It's not overly sweet and is high in antioxidants and will be a subtle touch in the beer. Then we are also using dried meadowsweet which is usually used as tea but there's a long tradition to use it in beer. It was used in beer that Vikings produced before they had hops – it has a bit of bitterness and we will add it at the stage when we are adding the aroma hops. We are also using Fuller’s Lager yeast strain, smooth English pale barley malt and some English wheat malt, as well as superb Kentish hops.

Bottle at home, thanks to Sharon for picking up, 19/06/19. Almost clear golden orange with a decent off white cap that dissipates to a swirl. Nose is straw, pale malts, grains, light herbal aroma. Taste comprises faint citric peel, pale malts, grains, straw, lemon rind, light herbs. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Passable lager.

Keg at Masons Arms. It pours clear bright yellow - gold with a thick foamy white head. The aroma is soft, sweet, doughy white bread, wet hay, flight florala and grass. The taste is crisp, dry, sweetish, crackery malts, doughy white bread, floral, daisies and soda water with a dry finish. Medium body and pretty lively carbonation. A decent enough lager, but maybe stand out in a crowd. 388/

[33cl bottle from Waitrose.] A golden amber pour with a loose white head, falling back quickly to a thin cap; grassy aroma with some sweet meadow herbs; sweet grainy taste - quite sticky in teh mouth; with a dry floral bitterness. Pleasant enough, but rather on the sweet side.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up at Waitrose. Pours totally clear yellow-gold with a creamy, white head. Pretty tasty, basic lager. Not much 'herbal' about it. Just some sweet, bready biscuits, a little hay, a little white bread. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Sweet finish, more doughy biscuits, straw. Very basic but it goes down quite easily.

Bottle from Waitrose. Deep gold in colour, with a moderately-sized, white head and touch of carbonation. A crisp lager with a slightly herbal edge, decent hops and a lingering, bitter, finish. Fine.
