0.33l bottle. Have to say that it looks quite good this. It has one of the darkest brown heads I've ever seen, medium sized deep and somewhat bubbly. This on top of a near black really oily body. Lost of aroma! This rich roasted goodness with tons of dark Belgian chocolate and it just oozes peaty roap. Not in a overwhelming way, just really really nice. It's slightly spicy as well with hints of both cinnamon and other bun-like aromas. Top notch! It's super flavorful also. Thick and chewy, really full-bodied and it has a soft prickling carbonation. Chocolate, espresso but there is no doubt that the kicker here is the smoky peaty almost salty smokiness that just eats this up. Chocolate milk and wood in the lingering roast dark finish. A rely fine sipper that I drank way to fast. Want more. 03.12.2013

Svart farge med lys brunt skum. Lukter mørk sjokolade og nesten bare det. Fyldig og smaker fruktig, sjokolade og kaffe. Smaker ikke at denne innholder 12 prosent alkohol. Serverer denne noe kald og smaken kommer mer etterhvert som ølen blir bedre temperert.

Bottle, 33cl. It’s a black one, topped by a tan head of finger-thick size. Peat, iodine, roasted malts, some licorice notes, hints of dms and some hoppyness in the aroma. The flavor has a touch of licorice and a nice hoppyness, fortunately lacking the dms from the aroma, and the peat running the show. Smooth, warming mouthfeel with a nice carbonation level. Full body. A really nice one, except for the dms in the aroma. 140118

Opaque dark brown beer, small bubbly tan head. Palate is smooth and slightly soft. Smooth and surprisingly light dark malt. Very light chocolate. Mild malt cream. Super mellow Islay whisky. Mild tang. Smooth finish. Is this really 12%?

11.2 oz. bottle, sent from Glouglouburp (thanks a lot, Dany), pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out moderate Islay barrel presence, chocolate and moderate roast. Flavour isn't an Islay bomb like many other Islay barrel aged beers I've had. Notes of Islay are certainly present upfront, but there also notes of chocolate, roast, and caramel malts. Now this is a great whiskey barrel aged impie. The Islay isn't too smoky, but rather adds a great accentuation to the base beer. Excellent beer.

Bottle - Chocolate and coffee notes, with some wood and a tiny bit of smoke. Jet black with a dark brown rich thick head. Huge chocolate notes, with only a hint of the whiskey advertised. Nice well balanced bitterness and a richness that is just awesome. Bit of burn in the finish, but well balanced with the big flavors. This is an awesome beer, unfortunately I don’t get any of the Islay flavors I was hoping for.

33cl bottle from Vinmonopolet, Vika. Pours black with a brown head. Malty aroma with roasty notes, dark chocolate, dark fruits and a hint of whisky. Sweet and desserty with nice, dark flavours and a balanced bitterness. Hoped for more pronounced Islay notes, but still a nice one.

Bottle thanks to J-Dogg. It pours jet black with a thick tan head. The nose is rich roast, coffee, spice, cocoa, chocolate gateaux, wood, tang and booze. The taste is rich roast, chocolate, fudge, juicy, coffee, earth, light whisky and chocolate cake. Medium-full body and moderate carbonation. A big beer for sure, but not quite as much Lagavulin character as I was hoping for. Still alright.
