AMERICAN OAK IMPRESSIONS: Impressions of vanilla crème, classic crème brûlée and nougat. A little more oak flavor than series one, but with creamy intensity.

Bottle at post Borefts BF 09 tasting. Red amber, thin beige head. Sweet amber malt in aroma, not sure I like the oak in it. Too woody for me. bit too oaky, sweet, some hop on end.

65 cl bottle on October 30, 2009Clear brown color, small white head. Subtle sweet malty scent. Salty, malty, cream, alcohol, bitter taste. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bitterness.

Bottle @ HJ Hansen, Odense. Pours hazy golden with a creamy white head and lacings. Nose and taste is heavy oaky. Very sweet with hints of caramel. Full bodied. Quite one dimensional

Hazy amber with a small off-white head. Strong oak aroma, tannin and vanilla, with some bready and caramel malt. Sweet caramel flavour with strong oak notes, and a medium bitter finish. Too sweet

Bottle, bought @ De Molen. Dark brown color. Caramelaroma, nutty with hints of oak and toffee. Sweet but alcoholic flavor, nutty with dried fruit, hints of oak and french nougat. Oak and hazelnut and toffee dessert in the aftertaste. Well made beer, not without complexity.

Bottle: Poured a clear deep copper color ale with a a rather large foamy head with good retention and no much lacing. Aroma of sweet malt with some light vanilla. Taste is also very much dominated by some strong sweet with notes of vanilla that are somewhat reminiscent of bourbon. Body is quite full with some good carbonation and no alcohol was apparent. I am not sure what to make of this one, strong sweet malt and vanilla were overpowering and bordering on gross but till somewhat different from the norm and ends up being interesting in the end.

Pours clear deep copper with thin off white to tan head. The aroma is cherry, prunes, chewy malts, some caramel and a light note of vanilla. The taste is smooth and sweet to start moving into prunes and raisins and mixing with malt sweetness, a faint note of caramel and vanilla. The mild oak notes show up into the finish. Nice Stuff.

courtesy of BA trader. pours amber with beige head. Aroma and taste. Rich caramel malts profile with some wood notes. The oak was there but not overpowering the beer with some light vanilla notes. Some brown sugar, dark fruits, and overall the beer just wasn’t really what I expected. So far, the Cuvee series have been disappointing, this one is better than what Cuvee 1 was.

Pours a clear dark brown color, with a very small white head. Aroma is sweet, with alcohol throughout. Flavor is tart, fruits, sour, boozy. Touch of oak. It’s alright, about on par with Cuvee 1.

Bottle that I expect might be overpriced, even before trying. Pours a slightly tarnished copper with a bit of a head that has died to a thin ring of bubbles. Aromas are sweet and fruity. Flavor is predictably sweet... sticky brown sugar and caramel with a little bit of dark fruit and a bit of ABV warmth. Based on the price of these, I would expect something much more spectacular... Guess I’ll be sitting Series 3 out on the sidelines... $15 is just too much for average beers.
