I’m a bit late to this party! My loss. A massive tan head (Dunham could pull back on the explosiveness of some of its beers on opening!) that thins out quickly like a cola head over a near black body. The nose has nice roasted and bitter elements with roasted dark coffee, cocoa and some caramel sweetness. The taste follows through on those roasty and bitter themes with bitter dark roast coffee, unsweetened cocoa, earthy hops and scorched caramel. Other spices hang in the background. A rich, dense and deeply tasty 6%er.

Bottle 0,355ltr:Very black colored brew with an very dry bitter taste and hints of roasted malts. But this one gushed out of the bottle, poured out on multiply glasses. I don’t like this gushing beers, are they use the same system as Alvinne or such?

Zwart bier met stevige schuimkraag. Smaak is bitterzoet met iets van chocolade, koffie en vanille. Mooi vol en romig mondgevoel.

Bottle. Black colour, rocky brown head. Aroma is intensive harsh coffee, some green hops. Medium bitterness. Full body, lively carbonation. Too harsh.

Poured from the tap. Black with tan head. Roast malt upfront, mild coffee, decent hopping on the finish.

Dark brown pour with a medium-height coarse-grained tan head. Very hoppy right from the start, feels a bit more like a black IPA than a porter. Nice roasted malts, pine resin, citrus, dark chocolate, dark roasted coffee, dark fruit, cherries, lactose, a bit of soft cheese. Really liking it, high carbonated, medium body, roasty and hoppy finish. Well done!

Shared 12 oz. bottle. Pours dark brown with a giant foamy beige head. Aroma of roasted malt and coffee. Taste is roasted malt, coffee notes, dark chocolate, hazelnut, a touch of ash. Complex.

Dark brown. Very big chocolate nose, lots of nice sugars, great balance...you need the brown sugars to pull those chocolate notes through. Very food porter...no thin crap.

Draught at Darby’s Gastown, Vancouver
Black color, compact brownish head. Wonderful aroma of boutique coffee, hot chocolate, cappuccino. Dry and smooth, with strong roasted malt character, coffee, and no room for much else. Ashy in the final.
Too roasty for me, but very nicely made.
