Oaktoberfest is a true German Märzen bier, brewed with premium imported Pilsner and Vienna malts. It’s spiced with Bavarian hops from the Fatherland, and fermented with the famous Bavarian Augustiner Lager yeast from Munich. We utilized German Hallertauer traditions for both bittering and aroma additions, adding a rich, noble hop presence to this beer.

16 oz. can. 1st thing, don’t use oak, it it is not used. Once I got around the fact that this was not aged in oak, I realized it still is a very enjoyable fall seasonal. Aroma is toasted grain, bready, mild musty basement.

Flavor has some noble hops to balance out the Vienna malts. Body is light but also made for drinking in large doses. Pretty nicely balanced. I don’t like the appearance of fall seasonals at the beer store. Mostly because it means summer is over but aside from that ... this beer is drinking really well and I could drink it in pretty large doses right now. That means something to me.

16 oz can poured into a tulip. Canned on 8/22/2016. Clear golden yellow with 1-2 fingers of off-white head. Aromas of citrus, caramel, malt, honey. Tastes of caramel, malt, biscuit, light floral. Medium body with a dry finish. Pretty solid.

Can from Uptown. I agree, no oak is confusing. Pours a clear orange hue with a medium white head. A big sweet malt nose. Soft perfume, big sweet round flavors, toast. Clean and flavorful. Could drink many.

Bottle pour into pint glass from The Drinkery, Londonderry, NH. Aroma is mild bready malt with yeasty dough/basement. Appearance is gorgeous golden color with tremendous sparkle, persistent finger-width foamy off-white head with nice lacing. Taste is mix of mild bitter and sour over sweet. Palate is light bodied with thin texture, average to lively carbonation with dry bitter over sour finish. Overall, the standout here is the appearance with pretty mild and average aroma, taste and palate. Beer was old so may color the rating.

The Sampler, Brooklyn tap: Pours amber with a whitish head. Aroma is slight oak-aging, but mostly a lot of caramel and malt. Taste is slightly oaky at the top, but then gets to be more like a normal marzen with the sweet caramel tastes hitting it up. Good though.

Pour is a clear tan with an average white head. Aroma is a little caramel malt with some bread. Flavor is a bready malt but kinda watery and flat after that. Finish is watery and cracker malt. The name is kinda deceiving. It’s not a oak aged marzen the name has something to do with the Spanish name of the city this is made.

Another great American Marzen style beer, although classified here as a Vienna. Pours out medium golden with lazy carbonation and a thin head. It gets better with a nice sweet malt aroma, and even more robust malty taste. Mouth feel is slick and slippery, lingering malt sweetness and a snap of hop bitterness at the very end. Prost!

355 ml. bottle sampled @ Firestone Walker Tasting. Thank you! Bottled on 05/08/2014. Sparkling golden, almost no head. Light sweetish metal nose, faint citrus herbs. Lightly bitter herbal, metal, white sugar, bitter grass & hay finish beer. Light body. Not a very exciting lager. Drinks easily but nothing to get exited about.
