Named after Nelson Sauvin, an outstanding hop varietal from New Zealand. The hop is introduced through the brewing and dry-hopping of this complex and well-balanced IPA. A hazy straw hued ale, Nelson is topped by bright white beer foam and offers a tropical hop aroma. The pine and fruity hop notes linger, but are well-balanced by the smooth, malty addition of European rye malts. Enjoy this stunning and multifaceted, yet mellow IPA.

Delicious IPA, full of weird Nelson Sauvin vinous fruitiness and a spicy, herbal rye backbone. A dry white grape front houses hints of citrus and a grass undertone, while the rye malt as a distinct grainy heaviness to the finish, balancing out with a bready, chardonnay-tinged fade. White wine and rye on the nose. Pours a beautiful gold with an ample white head and tons of lace. Sparkly, oily texture is perfect. Lovely beer.

Pale golden with a white head - Hop aroma with herbal notes - Malt body to support a good hop profile that is herbal in flavour - The erhbal hop flavour goes into the finish with bitterness - This was good

Grunt fill from Albertsons. Bright golden pour, milky, fluffy head fades fast. Fruity, flowery aroma, mild dank notes. More funk and fruit in the taste, drying bitterness. Sweet and bitter.

Hazy and quite pale. Fairly thick head. Has a mellow tart nose, with a berryish hop aroma. On the palate, sort of a harsh bitterness, woody and herbal...ok not the best balanced IPA. There’s a touch of malt sweetness but not enough to give me the balance I need.

Man, this stuff tastes so good. Aroma is just right malt with true Nelson tart, fruity, but also a little resin. With these malts, super easy drinking. Slight chewy body. I want more!

Rich light copper coloured body with a thinnish tan head, about a centimetre tall. Aroma of pure new world hops with some passionfruit, orange zest, citrus, perfume and a bunch of light malt noticeable as well - fairly balanced. Medium-bodied; Strong assertive hops up front but not terribly bitter, but still packing the tropical fruit flavour, with some noticeable malt and earth showing as well near the end. Aftertaste shows some bitterness from the hops, but also a lot of perfume and some grass as well. Overall, a pretty well-balanced IPA, but nothing exceptional or really worth searching out - this was fine, but I was expecting a better West Coast IPA from this brewery. I sampled this 65 cL Green Flash-styled tall bottle purchased from Costco in Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia on 17-January-2016 for US$7,69 sampled at home in Washington after just returning from Europe a few minutes earlier on 27-March-2016.
