Amber / Red Ale - Imperial Autumn
Score
7.65
ABV: 10.5% IBU: 120 Ticks: 12
Brewed in the style of a “West-Coast” Imperial Red Ale. Upon first sip, this beer showcases a delicious malt bill worthy of any Red Ale. A face-melting 120 IBU’s quickly follows, however this extreme bitterness only compliments the bold and unique flavor packed into this outcast of an ale. We then age the finished beer in Whiskey barrels for a minimum of 3 months. What comes out is on of the most unique barrel aged beers you will ever have, with massive amounts of caramel, vanilla, oak and Whiskey notes. Fall/Autumn seasonal brew, bottles may be available through out the year. 120 IBU, 10.5% ABV

Bottle, 0.65l. Aroma of whiskey, wood, vanilla and dried fruit. Pours cloudy dark brown color with thin creamy light brown head and average sparkling appearance. Taste starts with medium sweet caramel and toasted malt, following is woody, peaty, leathery, herbal and dried fruity, mouthfeel is smooth and mild spicy, while finish is bitter as hell. Full body, thick texture and average carbonation in palate. Pure joy despite of bloody astringency...

Murky red - brown beer, good pale tan head. Palate is airy and a little soft, mild fine carbonation. Smooth malts. a little creamy sweetness. Bitterish wood offset by mild vanilla. Bitter marmalade and light floralness. The bitterness starts to fade as the beer warms up. Mild fruity whisky adds further depth. A big chewy beast of a beer, but the whole bottle disappeared soon enough!

At GBF. Deep bronze coloured beer under a thin, pale beige head. Interesting aroma of spareribs with honey, toasted bread, caramel, vanilla, liquorice, aromatic eucalyptus-like aspects. Intense taste, some apparently oxidized malts, caramelly with a toasted edge, tad smoky, vinous and full mouthfeel, dry red wine effect in the end along with a long, piney, spicy hop bitterness. Stone’s Arrogant Bastard is not that far away, in any case an interesting red ale packed with flavour.

Sample @ 6de Gents Bierfestival 2015.

Small off-white rim over fully opaque dark brown beer with orange reflections. Very aromatic, even perfumey C-hops, rosewater, sweet. Bourbon, vanilla, alcohol, chocolate, coloured malts. "Hot", alcoholheat, slick & full bodied. Nice, but once more, nothing new.
