Bottle from Dranken Pyl in Melsele. Fairly thick and stable, pale yellowish white, regular head over a cristal clear, pure amber coloured beer with little fizz, hazy copper with yeast deposit. Aroma of overripe strawberry and dito peach, cooked banana with brown sugar, sweetish chestnut, sugared tea, brown rhum, some FFF (freshly fermented farmland), dried lemon peel, nail polish-like phenols, balsamic vinegar, stale armpit sweat and fermenting autumn leaves - sharp and not too inviting, in all. Sourish onset, unripe berries and even a touch of lemon with only a very subdued strawberry sweetishness hiding behind it, strong (over-)carbonation, minerally, stinging and adding a further kind of sourishness, nutty and toasted, bittersweet malts underlying but the sourness won’t go away and even adds a drying effect in the end, where it gets the company of an earthy, leafy, herbal hop bitterness, not too well hidden alcohol (though gently so) and a powdery, nearly starch-like yeastiness; nutty maltiness creeps through, but the sourness prevails, though a certain brown sugar-like sweetness pierces through it. Weird and not very pleasant, seems infected, in any case unbalanced; I guess this was intended as some kind of ’spéciale belge’, but the sourness has no business here and the malt profile should have been a bit thicker and softer. In this form, it comes across as rather harsh and even flawed. Too bad, especially when taking into account this is about the closest ’brewery’ (or rather: beer company) to where I live. Needs a lot more work!

Bottle thnx to Joris ! Pours dark , unclear amber . OK white head . Smell is bready malts, with a sweet, fresh touch ( hops ? ) Good carbo . Taste is a bit metallic-sweet, natural sweet grains . Very balanced . Refreshing, easy drinkable. Copper-taste , Bit bitterness from the hops ( and malts ) , some spicy-hop character . Filled up with a backbone of natural grains . Some buttery characer ( malts ? ) Very nice mouthfeel . High, yet good carbonation . Intense for its ABV for sure . Nice surprise
