Dark Hollow blends the miracle of two crafts--brewing and distillation--to create a work greater than the sum of its parts. An Imperial Stout has been aged in charred American oak bourbon barrels still dripping with uncut whiskey. For 100 days the young beer patiently breathes in and out of the wood, gaining complexity, character, and serious attitude. This ale is always bottle conditioned and can be enjoyed immediately upon its release from the brewery...or five years later, when you dust off the last vintage bottle from your cellar to share with good company.…

Bottle from Solidfunk, big thanks Pours a solid black with a frothy creamy tan head that persists. Roasty earthy with hints of molasses and dark pitted fruits. Sweet brown sugary malts in the flavor with bits of oak bourbon and hints of vanilla and coconut. Bit of an alcohol warming this one is definitely a sipper but its also pretty damn tasty too.

BOTTLE 75 CL. Pitch black, espresso head. Strong bourbon and oak vanilla nose, some milky chocolate. The taste is also strong on barrel notes, but the base beer is quite balanced, with the sweetness kept well under control. Light chocolate and dark caramel notes, strong bitter finish and light booze. Smooth mouthfeel and quite easy-drinking. A good balanced impy.

5 oz pour on draft at Barrel & Bushel, Tysons Corner Center. Dark brownish black with tan head. Aromas mainly of big dark and milk chocolates. Tastes of big dark and milk chocolate, roast, light booze. Medium-full body with a dry finish. Better than I remember it being when I first had it a few years ago.

Thanks to tderoeck? 750 ml. bottle sampled @ “Hot & Sweaty RBBSG 2015”. Black, solid mocha head. Nose is lightly fizzy, touch soy sauce, roast with quite a bit of the bourbon barrel. Taste is syrupy, quite a bit of roast, roasted coffee, molasses, syrup, chocolate, toffee, oak, vanilla, big bourbon,… Roasted thick coffee body & barrel. Quite pleasant.
