Heading into the backcountry, it’s helpful to have a few things on hand. A solid fishing rod (of course), a sturdy pack, and some great beer help the day run smoothly. This session ale is the perfect choice for a day away from it all—golden, easy drinking, and full of citrusy and piney hop flavor.

Pours yellow gold with a white head that laces some. The aroma is of hops and bready malt. The flavor has moderate bitterness with caramel and bready malt and light citrus. It's light and easy drinking.

Crisp, very pale golden and copper coloured body without much head at all - a small centimetre tall pure white head. Aroma of lemons, cleanser, light grass and a dose of yeast with some metal on the edges. Light-bodied; Strong piney and floral hop notes show through, but in a very light way of course, without much and/or any malts at all, with only a faint bitter and almost fake dose of yeast coming through, and all of this ending with a soft metallic and citrusey finish that is reminiscent of the cascade hops that show so strongly in the 'normal' Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Aftertaste shows the cleanser and light grassy notes up front with some citrus elements behind without any real malt body or complexities, but some mild sugars and fruits are noticeable in a soft and understated way. Overall, this is a very easy-drinking beer that doesn't show much hops at all, no bitterness nor complexity and only a soft touch of sugars and malts without a central theme to go on, given that the hops really aren't here at all - this tastes more like a pure 'light' golden ale. I sampled this stubby, twelve ounce bottle purchased from Harris Teeter in Arlington (Pentagon Row), Virginia on 03-November-2019 for US$1,87 a day after my son turned two, sampled on 05-March-2020 at home here in Washington.

Pours a nice gold from a bottle. Clean grassy, hay aroma and flavor, light lemon as well. Good beer.

12 oz. Aroma is grapefruit, kind of dank, citrusy, sex, vague tropical fruit--awesome. Pours nearly clear golden with a one finger bone-white head that falls into a ring after a minute. Taste has a moderate pithy bitterness, some biscuity malt character, and lots of citrusy hop flavor. Somewhat harsh carbonation. Way more aroma and flavor than one would think a 4% beer should have. Really good.

[12oz bottle from Albertsons, Fullerton, CA.] A slightly hazy amber pour with a thin white head; light citrus aroma; rather thin in the mouth with a dry citrus taste; and little in the way of a finish. Not the best beer I've tried from Sierra Nevada.

Another session IPA, with a bright initial pop of citrus-pine hoppiness, followed by a whole lot of nothin’, finished off by a mild grainy sweetness and a bland, modestly bitter fade. Pointless, as is this style.
