The younger brown version of Klets, at Just Beer. Thick, moussy, 'membranously' lacing, irregular but stable head, hazy amberish-bronze chestnut brown colour. Aroma of old red apples, raw red cabbage, acorn shells, nutmeg, butterscotch, peanuts, something vaguely sweaty, wet cloth, cloves, banana, bubblegum, pineapple, dried peaches. Fruity onset, apple, apricot and banana esteriness, sourish edge, rather sharp and very minerally carbonation further accentuating that sourishness. Cereally and 'thinly' caramelly, bit nutty malt core, very lightly bitterish toasted too, herbal hop bitterish ending, bit tea-ish, leafy and earthy; spicy phenols retronasally, dried fruit- and nut shell-like notes lingering. Acceptable technically speaking, yet very stereotypical dubbel, adding absolutely nothing to the Belgian beer landscape, but since it is decent enough and nothing else, I guess good old local marketing can provide an equally local audience for it, if this isn't already the case.

Bottle @ home. Hazy a bit murky red-brown color, average sized white to off-white head. Smell and taste malts, sourish, sourish bitter, lightly brown malts and perhaps a distant hint of brown candy sugar. Average body, medium carbonation. Overall: not good.

Pours hazy amber/brown with a minimal white head that leaves lacing. The aroma contains caramel, yeast, roasted malts, but skunky, earthy and dusty overall. It tastes medium sweet and light bitter. Nothing much going on there. The body is light and the texture is thin. Hard to finish. Bad.

14/III/15 - 33cl bottle from De Hopduvel (Gent) @ home - BB: X/2017 (2015-362)
Clear reddish brown beer, aery irregular beige head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: very sweet, sugary, lots of banana, yeast, caramel. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet start, caramel, overripe banana, slightly sourish. Aftertaste: bitter touch, lots of caramel, banana, yeasty, some alcohol. A generic omittable double beer.

Thanks to Mathieu87! 330 ml. bottle sampled @ Delirium Hoppy Loft. The male counterpart label to the regular Klets is pretty funny. Pours a hazy to murky brown, little bubbles. Nose is brown sugar, metallic & quite watery. Taste is soy sauce, overripe fruits, rotting herbs, light caramel. Malty & raw dough body. Not very impressive & something that is a bit loss in the great mass of Belgian beers. The guys PhD Doctorate Thesis is awesome from what I understand. Cheers!
