Sipped outside on a cold, sunny day at the Corrales location. Black with a light brown, creamy head. Oak and bourbon aroma. Taste is bittersweet. Touch of tartness. Faint fudge. Full-bodied, mild carbonation. Lingering bourbon. Not bad.

2022 pint can pours with a deep dark mahogany colored body that supports a thin tan head of foam. The aroma offers up molasses nuanced spicy black licorice, some of the boozy barrel treatment and then molasses drizzled dates, prunes and figs. Nice. The taste delivers a pleasing blend of sweet molasses, spicy black licorice, spicy anise too and then a modest whiskey like barrel booziness. To midway the sweet dark fruity esters begin to be heard with notes of prunes, dates and figs. The moderate bitterness, sweet fruity esters and barrel treatment are all in a fine balance allowing for these deep rich flavors to come across with a wonderful harmony. Great sipper.

Bottle. Pours a dark amber brown with a light grayish brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has some dark grains and light roast with a bit of chocolate and dark fruits underlying. Flavor has notes of dark grains and caramel with growing chocolate and a touch of dark fruits in the finish.

Medium brown. No head. Catching cocoa, touch of smoke, and sweet sugars. On the palate, the smoke kicks in a lot, but sweet figgy, date goodness. Has a mellow bitterness. Complex, but the big complexity here is with the smokiness, a sweet note from the barrel, and then a little bit of fruitiness, too. This goes down well, lacking overt booziness. Honestly, this is really nice, and with more complexity than most.
