Dull hazy pale brown, thin head. Sticky, phenolic. Not out of line for a quad but these qualities are emphasized over malt character or balance.

Deep and very clear amber and ruby coloured body with a copper and bronze glow, but a dark ruby and perhaps even violet coloured tint, with a super thin single centimetre tall off-white and tan head that fades quickly. Aroma of pitted fruits, caster sugar, brown sugar, a dose of plums and figs and a touch of nuts, too. Medium to Full-bodied; Rich nutty and very earthy flavours show at first with a big punch of alcohol and pungency with some richness coming through at the end from figs and dates with a lot of plums, too. Aftertaste is deep and quite sweet with the nuts, caramel, earth, figs and softer sugars all here without any pungency or deep, robust qualities. Overall, a nice, rich, deep, but fairly easy-going quad with a lot of sweetness coming around the corners and only a dash of nuts and earth on the end. I sampled this ten ounce pour on draught at Toronado in San Francisco, California on 07-March-2021 for US$7,00 sampled at perhaps the my favorite bar in this country!

Tap at RR Brewpub. It pours deep ruby-amber, with a white head. The nose is sweet candy floss/icing sugar, jam and dark fruits - plum and red grape. The taste is boozy, dark fruit: raisin, currant, plum, fig and red grape, vinous, wood, spice, jam and alcohol warmth, with a dry finish. Very fruity and well balanced. Full body and moderate carbonation. Good stuff.

On tap at Pi Bar for the RRB event for SF beer week. Pours a deep brown and red. Very complex beer and some interesting funk and sour elements.

On tap at Russian River. Mahogany pour. This was my favorite beer on the sampler. It’s not as complex or rich as Westy 12 or Rochefort 10, but still a very good quad. Loaded with dark fruit, carmel malt, spices, and belgian candies.
