Crombe version: Hops and citrus in the aroma, but not as sharp as might be expected. Some maltiness. Also malt, hops and citrus in the flavor. Some caramel. Alcohol well hidden. The beer must be a few years old, but has developed well and is still full of life. Long hoppy finish. What a nice beer to finish the day with! Strubbe version: amber color, clear. Hoppy, dusty, citric aroma. and flavor, with a dry out effect in the throat. Hoppy, citric aftertaste with a hint of metal. Loveable beer that lacks some character compared to the ancient Crombe stuff 7 3 8 4 14 = 3.6

hazy brownish dark amber colour, huge, fluffy head which lasts for minutes; aroma of berries, burnt sugar, slight anise and maybe licorice, as well as earthy-yeasty notes; taste has the same notes with burnt bitterness; good one!

Notes from early 90s. Bottle from the original Crombé Brewery. Dark blonde color. White head. Aroma’s: sweet malts/candy sugar, some fruitiness, light grain. Flavor: moderate sweet. Rather strong alcohol feel. Medium bodied. Finish: long, leading to a moderate bitter finish. Pretty refined.

330 ml. bottle @ home. Procured from Willems & Zoon. BBF 06/08/2015. Bottle says Brouwerij Crombe which appears to be out of business, I assume that Brouwerij Strubbe took over the name. Clear dark apple golden, fizzy faintly off-white head. Nose is sweet, dull, light sweetener, faint yeast, touch metallic apple. Taste is cardboard, artificial apple, artificial sweetener, odd paste / papier-mâché taste & feel to it, chemicals, spritz-y, grainy metallic feel, ice water. Metallic, cooked apple. Odd & very artificial, industrial-like. Very odd brew that you still manage down.
