Bottle courtesy of and shared with ogivlado (thanks!). Poured a dark hazy red brown body with a huge tan head, a bit of a gusher too. Sweet dark malty nose, a bit dry, toffee. Dusty, lemony candy, sweet maltiness, fine fruitiness, bubblegum. Quite balanced and drinkable, nice even.

Bottled. Clear dark brown, airy head. Slight blueberry aroma. Extremely sweet with syrup and sugar as main features. Simplistic hard, celan malt character. The sticky finish only provided some dextrose and metal. Very Huyghe indeed.

Bottled. A deep red beer with sediment floating around under a fast disappearing brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of alcohol, berries, and caramel, but also a light touch of spices. The flavor is very sweet and rather spicy combined with notes of caramel, nuts, alcohol, and berries, leading to a dry spicy finish.

33 cL bottle. Pours slight cloudy hazzlenut brown with a fizzy tan head. Dense caramel malt and overripe fruit aroma. Flavour is fruity and caramel malt. Dark mix with a distinct overripe fruit note. Light chocolate flavour and a mild bitterness into the finish, still with plenty of fruit flavours.

Bottle, 7.5%. Fruity and malty aroma, but not very good. Hazy dark brown colour. Big, stable tan head. The flavour is quite vinous, sweet with some strange fruit and a little malt. Medium pepperiness.

Bottle: Poured a dark reddish brown with a creamy light brown head. Aroma was caramel and dark malts very sweet. Taste was grassy at first, but opened up into a roasted malt sweetness. Finished dry on the palate.

Bottled (BB 10/2007)
Dark reddish brown, small mostly vanishing brownish head. Sweet fruity but mild nose. Coffee, licorice and roastiness in the quite light body. Metallic, roasted aftertaste. Belgium ale with schwartzbier character!
