“So Pale and one ‘crystal’ malt, a single hop and English Ale yeast. This is our homage to the great British pint, or Boring Brown Beer as we like to put it. I mean to say, how plain is Belgian Special B crystal malt, or the American C-hop Chinook? How boring can a 7%+ beer with 100+ IBU really be?

Cask at Craft 100, CBC Clapham, 03/04/14. Hazy dark amber/orange. Nose is woody, light spice, bitter orange, decaying wheelie bin just prior to collection, tangy apricot. Taste comprises bitter fruits, leather, fruit yoghurt, wood tinged, bitter orange, hnt of tobacco. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Hmmm ... a little mixed up and unbalanced.

Cask at the Reading beer festival. Deep amber. Maybe some chocolate notes but mainly tastes of raw alcohol. Poor and unfinished.

Cask gravity at Craft 100. It pours hazy deep brown with a small beige. The nose is earthy, toast, brown bread, orange sponge cake, caramel, old leathery sofa and dried fruits. The taste is bitter, woody, resin, spice, alcohol, toasty, leather and caramel with a dry, bitter finish. Medium body, soft carbonation and oily mouth-feel. A bit rough around the edges, but interesting to sample.

Craft100 fest at Craft Clapham. Cask. Hazy amber beer, small pale cream coloured head. Light palate, slightly soft and semi dry. Good fine carbonation. An ’oud bruin’ like sour vibe with IPA like floral and citric bitterness. Dry finish. A strange concoction but interesting!
