Bottle shared thanks to sjogro. Almost black with small brown head. Sour berries, deep roasted notes, soft bourbon, plyms, lactic, watery sour grains, soft funk. Medium sour, light sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with low carbonation and slight dry finish. Quite OK for a sour stout.

Draft at De Koffer. Black. Wow. Good sour black. Sour up front, nuanced, soft and nice like fluffy marshmallow, roast in the background. Rotting oakwood, forest floor, earthy and wet. Quite epic. Some mold, some hints of coffee, some wet earth. Beautiful.

Op tap bij Uiltje Bar. Donkerbruin, dunne schuimkraag. Lichte body. Smaakvol, maar niet voor iedereen weggelegd.

Reddish-shot, near black beer with a near-transparant small head. Very vinous nose, dark red fruit, lactic acid, liquorice. Ardbeg? Very mild roast, lactic acid, mild but present acidity, winebarrels. Bit yoghurt-like acidity, fresh, sour fruit. Ardbeg?? Acidthinning, refreshing (a stout!), medium bodied but really slick. Superb vinous miracle, utterly deviating in its 'style'. Another tour-de-force from Nevel. But as to the Ardbeg???

Sour rye stout aged on Ardbeg barrels, one of Nevel's less accessible brews I reckon, tasted from tap at Bar Beenhouwer in Ghent during Nevel's tap takeover event there. Thin and open, off-white, bubbly, quickly dissolving ring of a head on a blackish beer with hazy mahogany edges of about one inch deep. Aroma of moldy acorn shells gathered from a damp forest floor, garden mould, dry red wine, black tea and indeed dry peat more than actual Ardbeg whisky, redcurrant, varnish, dried blackberries, walnut vinegar, tree leaves, soggy brown bread underneath. Tart, estery onset, lots of sour blackberries, redcurrant and unripe plums, medium carb, strong lactic sourness with drying effect but also 'thinning' a bit, dry nut shell-, hard caramel- and brown bread crust-like maltiness, toasty-bitter in the end, the bitterness blending with ongoing tartness and a pronounced earthiness, as well as equally pronounced drying woody tannins; some funky Brett and a solventy note as well (shoe polish). Very earthy, dry and perhaps just a bit too sour, feeling somewhat thin as a result; needs more balance between sourness and maltiness.

Clear red brown beer, practically no head. Aroma: fruity, brett, sourish, red berries, soft roast, vinegar notes. MF: no carbon, medium to light body. Taste: watery start, bit sourish, red berries, soft roast, quite some tannins, alcohol noticeable, vinegar acidity. Aftertaste: pretty acidic, bit fruity, red berries, bitter, quite some tannins, alcohol touch.
